My list is short and simple:

Better scouts, we haven't drafted an all pro caliber player for how many years? Heck, forget about all pro, probowls caliber linemen? Offense or defense, any names?

Better OC, I advocate to relieve Grubb's play calling 5 games ago. We have Jake Peetz, he may not be better than Grubb, but we could have a preview of what Peetz can or cannot do. Instead we stayed with deadend Grubb, and finally regressed to 6 points vs Bears

If we don't do the above, rest do not matter.

Grubb should get another season to prove himself and we owe him a competent line to do so with. Fix the line, get improvements in our run game and commitment and they are in the playoffs next season.

I respectfully disagree, sorry. Grubb has been adequately compensated, we owe him nothing. He owe us an offense that scores more than 6 points in a must win game against the Bears, with 10 or was it 12 game losing streak.

This is known as recency bias.

Try and build an adequate O line and get a new play caller on O. Heck, if Minnesota can have a 14 win season with Sam Darnold at the helm I don’t see why we can’t even if Geno Smith is QB next season. Mac’s D should certainly be top 10 next season if they sign EJ and add via the draft.

Lol except that 'recent period' was over ten games in 16 games played, and our offense didn't show any sustainable or repeatable improvement over that period. The bear game was the crown jewel :)

No the recency I called out was about the Bears game specifically. Nice job moving the goal posts.

No. NFL OC isn't a "prove himself" job or developmental position. I fear that Grubb and Huff were elevated to roles well beyond their capabilities.

NFL quality control coach, assistant QB coach, assistant oline coach are the developmental positions where you prove yourself and earn OC and Oline coach jobs. There's levels to this sport, and some coaches just aren't NFL calibre; especially if they haven't had the proper training at the NFL level.

Nothing against Grubb and Huff personally, and I wish them well back at the college level where they will continue to have nice careers. But the NFL is for the big boys, and they don't appear to be cut out for this level.

I started calling for Grubb to step down from calling plays 5 or was it 6 games ago, without the benefit of that 6 points affair.

We probably won't have to wait too long to know about Grubb and Huff. Coaching staff contracts are typically year to year... and since we're not in the playoffs, Grubb's and Huff's fates should be known within the next week or two at most. Right?

This is the biggest one for me thinking long term. Either JS needs to be less stubborn on his feeling that guards get over-drafted and over-paid and bite the bullet to increase the talent level in that area. I don't mean break the bank like the Panthers did, but be willing to come up a bit or draft a stud early if he's there. Or do something like bring in a noted o-line guru etc - spend the resources in that area to have coaches who have the ability to bring out more out of lesser talent. Outside of one of those 2 things I don't like the long term prospects of our O, no matter who is OC

I agree about better scouts, consultants, or whatever to address the o line. John needs to get radical about this issue or his ass will be on the hot seat next year if it isn't already.

That’s fine but I called you on recency bias due to you using recency bias in your post. 😝

I don’t think you understood my post to toffee at all.

This place has such a fetish for firing people I bet they would fire a child for using an ez bake oven wrong the first time they saw one.
I understood it, my point was that it's not recency bias, we can look at the entire season and see a pattern.

If the child continued to misuse the ez bake oven for weeks on end, then maybe they need to play with something else
