Dude....the refs just got him destroyed. It did not look good. Reminded me of when Anquan Bolden got separated from his soul in the endzone. Are there any updates on him? Legitimately worried about his health.

When I saw that hit, it did not look right to me. When Khristian Boyd hit Smith, forward progress had already been stopped and that hit looked totally unnecessary to me. Not sure if the refs had blown the whislte, but I think tht Boyd gets fined at least for the hit being helmet to helmet.

Smith was a defenseless player. I'm very surprised it wasn't flagged at the time. A clear and obvious penalty.

I think it was different because forward progress had been stopped and he was being held up by two other players. It just looked like a cheap shot to me when I saw it in real time.

Those 2 plays have almost nothing in common. Chancellor led with his shoulder and hit below the neck area. It isn't clear whether there was forcible helmet-to-helmet contact. I don't see it as a foul, but I can't remember the wording of the rule as it was 12 years ago when the rule was controversial and in its infancy.

Chancellor hit:

Smith caught the ball at the 36 yard line. He was grabbed immediately and pushed back. A 2nd defender grabbed him and helped push him back to the 31 yard line. He was then hit in the head from behind.

Here is the the rule:

I don't like or agree with every NFL rule but regardless of whatever the NFL decides the rules are, they have to be impartially enforced. If personal fouls, (both called or not called), were subject to HC's challenges this could have led to a 15 yard penalty, and possibly a player ejection. Many calls are subjective. This call wasn't.
