This is fair. I'm a little lower on Geno than you but regardless this is pretty fair overall.

This past game though he had multiple touchdowns handed to him with decent protection and he just didn't pull the trigger or see them. This isn't something Geno is usually guilty of so maybe its just an outlier type of game for him.

Geno is a bridge and the team is probably trying to figure out a way to get their QB of the future hence the team friendly deal to Geno. Next couple of years there are some interesting prospects so will be ccurious to see if John falls in love with one.

While I was hopeful Geno would take the next step this year and maybe turn into a franchise QB, obviously he hasn't and therefore should be seen as a bridge QB.

But then you're back to square one at the most important position on the team. Draft and develop, or grab another free agent scrap heap QB who probably won't be any better than Geno is.

I get the frustration. No one likes to see our QB playing this poorly. But no one's exactly listing all the amazing alternatives to Geno as the starter. Luck, draft a rookie who will take years to develop, or grab a has been journeyman free agent that's on his 5th team.

Not exactly exciting options. I'll say the same thing I said about Russ when people wanted him gone. You need your next guy already on the team before getting rid of your starting QB.

I honestly don't think John and Pete love the idea of spending another 2-3 years developing a rookie QB, who may or may not work out.

They're in win now mode with this roster. Thus the veteran QB who hopefully can manage well enough to make a deep playoff run.

I feel sort of the opposite. It felt like a game Seattle should have lost by two+ scores to me. The Bengals seemed determined to keep Seattle in it.

The Seahawks Defense "Seemed Determined to Keep Seattle in it", Seattle's Offensive Line struggled to Pass Protect, & Run Block and because of those Obvious failures, Geno was too damned busy running around TRYING to find an OPEN Receiver/ TE/ RB to throw the ball to.
Not enough credit given to the Bengals Defense for thwarting everything that Seattle's busted up O-Line was TRYING to do.

I agree but if not we will be ****** if we don't try. And it's totally obvious Geno or Cousins or whatever 40-50 million old veteran isn't the answer. You all know the answer prove me wrong. I'd rather take a year or two of shit and dominate for 10 years.

Football is an extremely emotional sport , so you have to be able to detach and not let the losses ruin your day.

The season is a process of the team growing together. Yes there are going to be issues, there are going to be stupid plays and there are going to be mistakes made not only by the players. But the coaches as well. That doesn't mean that the whole thing needs to be blown up. It means that everybody needs to be accountable so that the issues can be fixed.

In this game against the Bengles a lot of important issues have been exposed. That is a good thing! Geno has some work to do, the O line has some work to do. We know we have issues in the red zone and part of that is, the receiver's have not been open, part of it is the pass rush is getting to Geno and Geno has missed a couple. That doesn't mean that the world is ending and the whole team needs to be blown up and we need to fire Pete. What it means is the Hawks have some issues they need to work out. That is what the season is for.

The D is a perfect example of this from the very beginning of the season. They didn't start off good but they are making good progress and this showing vs the Bengles was extremely promising.

The O is progressing slower. Yes they have the talent... but they have Been working through injury and through that process they know exactly what they have as far as back ups , how those back ups are going to play and they know now what area's those players need to be coached up. Because they are moving 2nd string players around so much nobody is gaining contunuity in anynone position and thats a problem.

Now the issue becomes getting the number ones healthy. Nobody is exactly sure when that is going to happen. But when it does happen there is another issue. That issue is continuity. Playing together and getting good as a unit. This is over looked widely by the fan base. It takes time to Learn to work together as a unit. The more time these guys are not playing together the harder it is to get it right.

The bottom line is to stay close to the Niners and Rams growing through the issues and peaking at the exact right time with the team's best play which should start somewhere in the third quarter of the season peaking at the end of the season for the play offs.

So really what's happening right now is NOT what is going to happen at the end of the season it's just part of the progression. Sometimes the team can not work through the issues. Sometimes they don't have the personel , some times they can't over come injury some times there is coaching issues sometimes players don't play to expectation. But at this point of the season things look really good, yes there are some issue but we just have to trust the process.

Not sure if you've been to a live game at home this year, but he has been missing wide open guys a lot. People in my section are screaming it thru the game. Check down's are great and all, but guys being seemingly wide open is frustrating. And yes, I'm saying this from my seat or on my couch, I got that.
JSN has been wide open on several occasions. It's likely something you don't see on TV.
The former guy did this all the time too, drove me nuts. I don't care WHO is playing QB, it's extremely frustrating. We're fans, we have a right to be frustrated, even if it seems like unrealistic expectations. That's sports. The QB is going to be the focal point, good or bad after games.
And I'm fully aware I'm too hard on the guy. I just need to see a lot more. And I suspect I will on Sunday.

Geno is decent QB, not great. Not gonna win games by himself. Usually not going to lose them himself.
The interception on the four yardline lost this game for us. It looked like they were trying to force some things to JSN and that play might have been the worst of it. I am a big JSN fan and think he is going to take over for Lockett and be a star for us someday. Right now though, especially with the banged up line, two and three TE looks are gonna work better.

Charbonet does have a more violent running style which appears like it would be better for short yardage. Ken Walker is on my fantasy team though so he needs to keep getting the goal line carries for the rest of the year. Walker punched it in on first drive. Later they gave it to him two times in a row and he was stuffed by DJ Reader. I am pretty sure Charbonet doesn't do any better on those carries. DJ Reader is a premier run stuffer. I felt like maybe they would have been better off trying to get to the outside instead of running it right at Reader even if they did pull it off earlier in the game.

This was a tough game against a tough team. It reminded me of one of those frustrating early exit playoff games. It didn't make me lose hope though. The D made great adjustments. We were right there and could have come away with the win against a very good team while working with a patchwork O-line.

I think I disagree with this. I think PCJS have been in "Don't lose (too many) games this season" mode for years.

They know if they can win at least 7 games every year their jobs are safe and they won't get harsh criticism thrown their way.

Making the playoffs as often as possible is a great bonus they can point to in order to show how good they are, even if there is little to no chance of winning a playoff game.

They built up personal capital with a Super Bowl win and have been riding with mediocrity since. They've sacrificed building a good team by focusing on sustaining mediocrity instead of taking the risk of fielding a poor team to build up cap and picks for future years.

QB is the most important position and they've used no draft capital or risk to try and find one. They could have easily traded up for Stroud or Richardson this year, but that was too risky and they might have had a bad season.

I believe that they have been too risk averse to actually build a team that has a chance of competing in the post-season, and we will be trapped in mediocrity until the team is sold.

I don't know the answers. I'm just trying to put myself in John and Pete's place. They're on their what, 3rd or 4th turnover of the roster since they were hired?

So yeah, I can't see the oldest coach in the league wanting to spend another decade trying to find a QB in the draft with an emerging great defense and capable offense when clicking well.

So yeah, I agree Geno might not, and probably isn't the answer long term. But again I just don't see our GM and coach down with the drafting one. Especially now that we'll be back in the high teens or 20's with our pick.

When I look at those last to plays in the red zone I do not see how any QB could have gotten away from the pass rush.

He did miss JSN wide open one time that I saw... he did miss Metcalf wide open which would have been a TD. But when I looked at the tape the one with Metcalf he was under considerable pressure and had aboutv2 seconds to throw the ball. So yeah somebody might have made that play but it would have been a definate pro bowl play.

I’m being critical of Geno with the plays you mentioned. But, absolutely agree with the defensive pressure on that last drive.

The O-line was nonexistent.

I'm with Matty Brown: The Geno haters are just confirming their priors. These are some of the same people who wanted Pete fired because Russ couldn't read the middle of the field.

Geno will be fine. He's a top 10 QB.

Geno is going to show his worth. He earned this chance and I'm not willing to throw him under the bus at this point. There are to many good things he does. It is frustrating to many to see him grow even though he is a vet he still is growing IMO.

I have no clue why they think so though it's obvious they are a year away IF they actually draft a quarterback that's not league average and costs 40 million dollars if that. If so both need to retire or get new jobs.
