That includes a lucrative 6th round pick and possibly another 7th down the road if he makes the roster

a trade for that compensation wouldn't even surprise me at this point. lots of smoke around 9ers trading lance. they've even worked out dorian thompson-robinson 3x so far (mid-late prospect). sounds like trey lance just doesn't "get it" and 9ers are ready to move on.

add this from dov kleiman:

Wow, a lot of teams are interested. Kid must have some potential.
trading for trey lance:

pros

- kid must have some potential, right? i mean the 49ers traded 3 1sts and a 3rd for him with a superbowl ready team. right?

cons

- hasn’t played since 2019
- team that drafted him doesn’t like him
- outplayed by the last pick in 2022 NFL draft
- not accurate
- injury prone
- goofy af
- not as great of runner as anticipated
- already balding

He has potential for sure. But the Niners wouldn't be entertaining the idea of moving him, if they thought he was the real deal.

The fact that Lynch openly acknowledged Purdy as the likely starter going forward, speaks volumes.

Or perhaps they think Purdy is the real deal and they can get value for Lance for this upcoming draft? Maybe a second rounder? Who knows

I was reading the list of cons & was hoping you'd mention the balding, and you didn't disappoint.

Purdy is a solid quarterback. And TBH Darnold ain’t bad. You guys can draft another quarterback in the third round and suddenly your quarterback situation isn’t that bad. But Trey felt like another rg3 type project and the Hawks ended his career

If Lynch really wants to move Lance, gosh I sure hope no NFL exec reads this, it seems hopeless.

This seems like a good place for this. Man, Jed York is something. https://www.nfl.com/news/niners-ceo...-anything-about-drafting-qb-trey-lance-it-s-n
who exactly are lynch and york trying to convince? why all the sales pitches? why are they adamant about pumping up trey lance in the media despite already naming purdy as "the guy"? with purdy's injury, shouldn't trey lance have an opening to be "the guy"?

the answer is that even after only 4 trey lance starts, they realized trey lance is nothing more than an emergency backup. he's a 1 read QB with bad mechanics, mediocre athleticism, poor recognition, and slow processing. they gambled, and lost. now it's about cutting losses and recouping capital after the huge mistake of spending the 3 1sts and a 3rd drafting the guy. because right now drafting trey lance has been a net total loss. he's on pace to be the biggest bust in history. york and lynch want to get rid of the stank. the trey lance situation is drawing lots of critisism. york and lynch are out there trying to maximize what they can get in return. since they're listening to offers, they hope somebody swoops in with a 2nd/3rd rounder to take this mess off their hands. they may have to settle for less. they want to bury trey and forget it happened and move on without him. and maybe that's the smart move.

I can’t find any evidence on the internet that 49ers are actively seeking to trade Lance — only that they are getting inquiries from a couple teams.

It would be too embarrassing to trade him for a late-round pick, and who’s giving a high pick for an unproven guy coming off an injury? Teams are calling to try to buy him cheap, and if 49ers were willing to sell cheap, he’d probably be gone by now.

The way Purdy played spoke volumes as well. He made Geno Smith look like a scrub the two times the 49ers played the Hawks. Obviously after the performance he put on from his first snap to deep in the playoffs means he deserves the starter nod. The QB room is looking pretty good for the 49ers going forwards. Which, I imagine, is why some of you are trolling Lance so desperately.
