Or LamarI think it depends on what our goals are. Richardson the second coming (but less developed initially) of Cam Newton?

The bears might trade down, but they need to fix their D also. It’s tough to trade down when you hold the top pick, unless they land something huge for the pick.AR probably won't last until 5. Right now, unless I'm mistaken, Stroud, Levis and AR look like the top 3 qb's in the draft. Young has awesome skills, but is just too small. Been there, done that. Hooker is the wild card in this draft in my opinion.
Just because you draft a QB at #20 doesn’t make him a qb1. And if we draft a QB at #20 next year doesn’t mean he’s not qb1. Both good and bad QBs get drafted anywhere from #1 to Purdy every year. It’s a crapshoot. How? We're not going to be picking #5 again, and trading up more than a few spots means giving away the farm. DL can be had much easier than a rookie qb1.
Yea, but we’ve also have seen these big projects pan out more than they have in the past. The thing that I keep hearing and seeing myself about Richardson is that he adjusted and learned really quick on the fly, even within games when the defense got the best of him. He’s got the right mindset and he’s shown he’s adaptable. His accuracy concerns are a mechanics problem as well. He’s shown he can make some ridiculous throws that most NFL QBs can’t when he does things right. It is awful, and people are going to keep bringing up Josh Allen, but those guys become Kyle Boller or Akili Smith much more often. I love toolsy QBs, so I won't complain if we take him, but I don't have the greatest of confidence that he's going to end up being worthy of a pick that high.
Richardson's main issue is his mechanics. Long elongated release, puts all of his weight on his front foot when he throws. That is one of the easiest things to fix at the next level.Richardson is an absolute freak of nature, but his combine was exactly what you expected. He can launch a ball but his accuracy is sub par. Stroud is so far ahead of him in game balls. Doesn't mean he can't be worked on, hard denying that speed and size, but if the Hawks are drafting him I expect a tough first year.
Good luck. Bears just went through that with Trubisky. Young and Stroud are not developmental project QBs. They belong in the top-5. If the Seahawks want to move up for one of them, that’s defensible.Yea, but we’ve also have seen these big projects pan out more than they have in the past. Richardson is raw, he’s got a lot of things to work on but if we took him I’d be comfortable. I think with the right tutelage he could become an elite QB in the NFL.
NOPE!!, Greg Olsen. The End.Good luck. Bears just went through that with Trubisky. Young and Stroud are not developmental project QBs. They belong in the top-5. If the Seahawks want to move up for one of them, that’s defensible.
I didn’t say that’s what I’d do. I would draft a DL, and that’s still what I believe will happen with the first pick.NOPE!!, Greg Olsen. The End.
Somehow I am not sure if Richardson is willing to sit and clipboard for 2 years.here's where i think AR is worth pick #5:
1) if you are confident that there is nobody available at #5 that could potentially be a major difference maker (all-pro) in the front 7; and
2) if our team doesn't require immediate returns from him. you draft AR as a project. a 5 year commitment with 2/5 full years spent developing him for the NFL and our system. if you start him immediately, he will take unnecessary hits and have unnecessary pressure to win, so maybe go with a bridge QB in the interim. do all this believing that your window isn't right now, but 1-2 seasons from now. yeah in 1-2 years AR could set the NFL on fire.
That's a defensible strategy, but it potentially puts a soft ceiling on how far this team can go. We'd have a pretty good QB on a large dollar contract. The stars have aligned (high pick and several viable QB prospects) to take our crack at solving for the position longer term.My money is on a DL IF we don’t trade down. Geno gets a new deal with us, we draft a DT or Edge at 5 and go from there.
Yes, but more qb1's are taken 1-15 than after, which makes it less of a crapshoot.Just because you draft a QB at #20 doesn’t make him a qb1. And if we draft a QB at #20 next year doesn’t mean he’s not qb1. Both good and bad QBs get drafted anywhere from #1 to Purdy every year. It’s a crapshoot.
What makes a guy more/less a crapshoot is what he shows on his college tape. Wherever number they all end up getting drafted, there’s a big drop off from Young/Stroud to Levis/Richardson.Yes, but more qb1's are taken 1-15 than after, which makes it less of a crapshoot.
He seemed cool about it here tho. "willing to take the backseat and learn I'm def willing to do that".Somehow I am not sure if Richardson is willing to sit and clipboard for 2 years.
