Relax Welsh, you and I are cool. Don't take it so personal. It's not that important. We won the trade, he's playing like crap. You won, we won. Cool

Wow! Very hostile and uncalled for Hockey Guy! I was simply asking if @SoulfishHawk still thinks Russell Wilson is a top 10 quarterback. The fact is he flamed me for even insinuating Russ wasn't a top 10 QB at the beginning of the season! He thought it was preposterous! And now he wants to shove it under the rug like it never happened.

I never go at Soul with the animosity with which he comes at me! This is not a good look for you, Hockey Guy! Sad!
So, somebody came at you with, what you call, "animosity" so you'll just follow them around in other threads until they'll admit you were right.

Seems like a totally reasonable thing for a mature, well adjusted adult to do.

Carry on.

Welsh is a trip. Half the time I have to assume it's sarcasm. Now I can't even break in to a yawn. He's an odd cat, just like the old QB he obsesses over 24/7 365 :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Go Hawks. THE CURRENT ONES :)

I dont think he's top 10. Not even close now. I honestly thought he would bounce back this year though as I thought injuries and his lack of will to play for Pete were deciding factors for his recent poor play. I appear to be wrong. Russ just seems to have gotten old, really, really quick.

He's also no longer protected by Pete Carroll. It now looks like the "Pete-ball" about which Wilson fans complained so much was just Carroll getting as much as possible out of Wilson's strengths while minimizing the damage done to the team by Wilson's limitations. Remember that "let[ting] Russ cook" led to ten Wilson turnovers in three games.

I like @keasley45's analogy in another thread. It now looks like Pete Carroll and "Pete-ball" were like the inflatable bumpers in the gutters on a bowling lane, and Wilson was like a kid who could occasionally send a ball perfectly like a pro and nail a strike or pick up a difficult spare, but without the bumpers, would roll a lot of gutterballs too.

Carroll did what he did with Wilson so well that Washington and Denver (and possibly other teams) were willing to offer a lot in players and picks to get Wilson, and people around here were throwing around terms like "generational talent" about Wilson, even though he was a top-five QB in one or two seasons in his career, and never even close to being the best in the league even for a single season.

Earlier this year, Carroll and Schneider decided that the offers made by Washington and Denver were good enough that it was better to take one of them than to continue to try to make an offense work in the 2020s NFL with Russell Wilson at QB. So far, it looks like they were very, very right about that.

I don't think Wilson is quite as bad as he's been this season, and I expect him to be better next year. I've even been expecting him to improve at least a little this year from his current safely-in-the-bottom-quarter-of-the-league level, and even though he hasn't, I'm still expecting him to do so before the season ends. And next year, Wilson is likely to have a new coaching staff that will be hired to come in with a plan to get as much as possible out of him. He's likely to have a better roster around him, at least on offense, as players come back from injury. But I sincerely don't believe he'll ever again be among the five best QBs in the league over a full season. Then again, I'm not a professional evaluator of NFL player talent.

If Wilson had to have a worse-than-he-really-is (talent-wise) season, I'm glad it's happening in 2022, because the worse he plays, the better the picks in the first two rounds of the 2023 draft that the Seahawks got from the Broncos will be.

You know, maybe that bobblehead of yours was some sort of voodoo doll that controlled Russell's football skill

Well then Sarge, I got bad news for you,,,neither are the Seahawks.

Just remember to come on back here and eat some crow when Pete and John build another playoff roster over the next 2-3 years.

That's all I ask. Don't move the goal posts like Fade did once he realized he was wrong about his we should have kept Russ and fired Pete beating of the dead horse.

I'll eat crow when they win something more than the Wild Card round.

Cause that's what most NFL franchises do?

Not sure what your magic high bar of success is, but you should lower it. Success in the NFL is cyclical.

We had a high rate of success for a good 4-5 run, now we're rebuilding to try to do it again. If you don't think Pete's up to the challenge after highly over achieving this year in a year that was suppose to be a 4-5 win complete rebuild? Then idk what to tell you, you're never going to be satisfied.

IMO super sad way to be a fan, angry and not even willing to give the most successful coach in franchise history another chance to rebuild a SB contender. But you go on with your bitter self.

So your one of those thats satisfied with just making the playoffs but never doing anything once they get there. I need more than that. I have less than zero confidence in Pete Carroll being able to take the team any further than a Wild Card win. The past 8 years have cemented that.

OK, you've made it very clear exactly how you feel about Pete Carroll, we are all painfully aware of your opinion by now. Therefore there is no need for you to post anymore, we all get it, save your energy, the rest of us deserve a break..

People act like getting to and winning the super bowl can be done all the time. With the exception of the Pats who has been in the super bowl consistently over the past 20 years? Making the playoffs is tough. Would we ALL like to go deeper in the playoffs. Sure. But its is not easy. IMHO we were hamstrung by a QB with limitations that limited our offense to what it could do. Pete was making chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. What did you really expect.?

Again, if you need more than that, go. Have fun finding a coach that regularly does so for more than scattered stretches.

This misconception is spouted all the time. Nobody expects that, but improvement should be expected. Since 2015 the Hawks have been terrible in the post season throughout their appearances. The hot trend is to blame Russell Wilson, but watching those games, I remember shaking my head and asking what Carroll was thinking. He was deplorable in his game planning and I dont see that changing anytime in the future.

I'm just waiting on the next younger and more innovative coach. Shouldnt be but a few more years.

Ahh yes, so you'd like us to be different than the other 31 franchises that also have a very small chance each year to go further than WC rounds.

Again, this isn't about Pete. It's about your unrealistic expectations based on the greatest 2-3 run in franchise history.

It's about building a perennial playoff roster...........THAT'S what gives you the best chance at going deep into the playoffs. Bites at the apple.

So if you can't see that Pete and John are ahead of the rebuild curve right now in doing just that? For the 10th time, I can't help you. I'm sorry you're never going to be happy, that's a terrible way to be a sports fan. Forever sad.

Yeah, I mean being tied for the 8th most playoff wins since 2015 is pretty terrible.

And before you spout some nonsense about having the 2nd most losses in that same timeframe. The Broncos are the only team not to lose a playoff game since 2015.

Gee I sure wish this team could be like the Broncos.
