Allen was picked #7 overall, and Herbert was picked #6.

So not sure why people keep thinking we "passed" on them.
You know what's worse than that? We passed on Joe Burrow 2 years ago. It's hard being a Seahawks fan when the FO makes stupid mistakes like this.

You consider Edge to be a bigger need than DT? Our roster there is thin, especially with Woods probably retiring at the end of the season.
In terms of value? Yes, yes I do

??? Not sure if this sarcasm or not? We have not picked in the top 15-20 of the draft in a loooong time. These premium quarterbacks have gone way too early for us to get. We of course could have bundled a ton of picks to get but already having a “franchise” QB whey would we have done that?

It has to be. Like the guy said we weren’t bundling picks with a franchise QB. But we could’ve traded RW and got one of them.

Lmao it was complete sarcasm, which is why I quoted Sgt Largent's post explaining the joke :p

Yep. It’s a good deal for us too. People that disagree simply don’t like Geno for whatever reason. Personally I love the guy he’s got a very very very talented arm. A 3 year deal in the $100 mil range back loaded and incentive based will be on tap for Geno guaranteed

I'm not saying Geno doesn't deserve 33m a year, which puts him around the top 10-11 QB per year salary range.

But my guess is Pete and John not only want to see how he plays the rest of the season, but they want to see what the market is for Geno before offering this much.

They do this with a lot of guys, tell them to go test the market but give us the chance to sign you if it's within our range. If some team wants to get stupid like what happened with Griffin and the Jags? No thanks, but I'd imagine Geno will give us the last chance to sign him after he and his agent explore free agency.

Because if the market for Geno isn't what they think it is and other GM's don't think Geno will play as well as he's playing here with their coaches and offensive system? Then we can probably resign Geno for much less than 33M a year.

I hear ya...but we lost Hutch seeing what others will pay. He's on a 1 year deal. You could be right, but it does have risk.

I honestly think Geno would give Pete and John the first right of refusal on any deal he finds in free agency. He loves it here that much, and respects the hell out of Pete for sticking by him and giving him this opportunity.

So IMO no need to just throw 33M at Geno when that might not even be close to what the market is for him.

I'd love to pick up a top tier center with one of those second rounders!

I could name a dozen QB's taken in those same drafts that didn't hit. Or are still in the league and are mediocre.

So sure, if Pete and John identify a QB they're super excited about and think can be the next franchise QB? I trust their scouting and talent evaluation to say grab him if he's available.

My point is this is the best case scenario with how this season is going with Geno. Him playing at the level he's playing means you're no longer FORCED to reach on a QB because you're desperate.
Allen was picked #7 overall, and Herbert was picked #6.

Because we tried to trade Russ for a top draft pick.

They tried to do just that. Russ and his team caught wind of it and thus started the end of their relationship.

Both of your previous posts should be put in quotes. The "story" came from Me3 and his PR Team. As I have pointed out, there is no logic in believing the "story." If we wanted Allen, why is there no verification from the Browns of such an attempt? If we wanted Allen, why is there no "story" of our attempting to trade Wilson for picks 2-7 until we lost the chance to draft him? Wilson was trying to save face with his marks with this story, because his image means so much to him.

3 years / $100 million. Sign me up. More than that… I don’t think so.

A QB at $40 million is expected to carry the team. You start spending that kind of money and the rest of the team has to suffer. Rob Peter to pay Paul. Pete lived off next man up until Russell, but I’m not sure if he will repeat that situation.
