hes just not accurate with his long passes. zero touch. very accurate inside 20 yards.
Man you need to go look at more film. Soooo incorrect with this statement, unless you are looking back when he was with the Jets.

In the Detroit game he made a number of longer than 20 yards with laser accuracy and fit it into windows.

Don't let your hatred or preconceived notions cloud your eyes and brain.

FO put out a video about the offense too. One guy thinks the performance is fluky and not sustainable. His reasoning isn't very good though.

Yeah. Schatz entire argument rests on the assumption that Geno is a journeyman QB. And it's easy to make a case for the Seahawks regressing if we assume Geno is below average.

Similarly, Schatz's perspective on Geno's performance last season is wrong. Geno played a tougher defensive schedule last season than he's played this season, and he played those games without several offensive starters. Considering he still put up a QB rating over 100 and a completion percentage approaching 70%, it seems unlikely to be a fluke. In fact, even if we assume Geno's performance last season was his baseline, he'd still be a top 15 QB.

Another good video on the offense from neutral observers

"He operates in structure." One of my favorite quotes from that clip. :)

Which is another way to say, "He does what we tell him to do." He's not always jumping off script at the slightest excuse. Love how they say he stands in the pocket, but not like a tree. He does it because he knows something will come open if he's patient.

Good stuff.

I'm just saying...

I'm certainly not sold on Geno as our full time QB past this season, although obviously he has been building a very strong case for himself so far. Like many, I want to wait and see how he consistently does against defenses that aren't in the bottom 10 or so. We have the luxury of riding him out the rest of the year and seeing if that's going to work out. He is going to want to get paid more than a rookie sized contract if he balls out all year.

What I think is one of the biggest differences between him and the Donkey is being willing to throw it when the receiver isn't wide open. I don't know that Russ would've even tried the 2nd and 3rd passes in that clip. Maybe once every 2 games he'd toss a 50-50 ball and let the receiver fight for it, Geno does it regularly and still has a low INT count. That was exactly what we needed with Graham but even when they tried it and it worked they would go away from it for another game or more.

The Donkey would go away from it for another game or more. It has become increasingly obvious that some of us were right, the Donkey throws where he wants to throw.

For me I have long since eaten my crow on Geno as he has far exceeded my belief in his abilities with his play. Besides that, he seems to be improving the more he plays.

He seems to be playing within the system as coached and simply is playing well. That's a very good thing for the team.

I will reserve my decision on whether Geno deserves to be kept long term, but can see some sense in doing so as a young raw QB could be eased into service behind him and developed, rather than being in the position of forcing things with that QBs development. This may allow the team to focus in the draft upon QBs who may yet be raw but who have high potential to be developed rather than drafting a QB with their first pick in the draft. Other areas of the team like DT, ILB, OG and C, could be taken early to strengthen the team overall.

Based on my talking up Geno since the trade, guess I qualify as a Geno homer. Speaking as a Geno homer, let me remind all the nay sayers that we are 2-3, but we could easily be 0-5, one of the key factor that prevented us from 0-5? Geno Smith, he could single-handedly ruin our season. He didn't, in fact, he played well enough that we could have been 4-1 if our defense played better or football God smile at us a bit.

If we replace Geno with a very prime Russ, would we still be 2-3? I think so, do you?

Yeah? I mean, by some metrics, Geno is playing as good or better than any other QB in the league. There is only so much more any QB could do.

I can understand your point
but he has played against 3 top Defences already. Sf NO, Denver only SF kept him from running an effective O, and that was after an emotional win.
As they grow they can put up 28 to 32 on any D

And SF had the two brain fart plays that helped too the balance away from us.

A compilation of Geno showing accuracy on his long passes, with excellent touch on throws over 20 yards

Just from last week. With one of these being in the fourth quarter.

The last few throws...wth...those are fantastic. I could watch dimes like that every weekend.
