It's not just the last game, though. It's how he ended the season with the Vikes last season, losing to Detroit for the top seed, and then to the Rams in the first round of the playoffs. It's how he lost both of our biggest games this season against the Rams and the 49ers. The national media is looking at all four of his biggest games the last two years where he is 0-4. So though the narrative may be lazy on some levels, it is rooted in these facts.
Sam has a chance to start changing that narrative tonight. It won't put an end to it, but it would be a start.
Hopefully he does play a game tonight that forces a change in the “narrative”.
But make no mistake, the “narrative” you speak of is NOT without merit.
IF Sam shits the bed tonight it’s going to be hard to deny that the Vikes made a good decision. (Saw something significant)
If your QB can’t win the big games because of some mental block or some other freaky issues, it would be ludicrous to continue pounding a square peg into a round hole.
Sam doesn’t have to win this game, but if we lose and it’s clear that he was the reason we did, IMHO it’s time to start looking for another option for our future.
Yep, that’s harsh but if the Vikes saw it, and it continues here why would we keep him?
We have to bright of a future, a wide open SB window and zero reason to keep a guy that simply can’t win the biggest of games.
I’m a fan, hope he kicks ass and carries us the rest of the way, and through the next few years.
*Just not willing to support him if it’s a freaky mental thing that’s happening.
*as our QB
