Drew Lock is THE GUY

Incredible performance. This guy is the real deal. Under Pete's wing he is going to be an all time great. Josh Allen didn't look like he was going to make it and look what happened. Hawks should be nfc favorites with this guy!!!

He looked confident, consistently made the right throw. I'm happy.

That sack fumble was bad though. It's hard to take preseason to seriously because there's a lot of screw ups but assuming it wasn't a missed blocking assignment, Lock has to anticipate the blitz and set the blocking or get the ball out. That was a complete faceplant afrer an overall great game.

Totally disagree about the fumble. Had no time and it was a blind side, I don't care who the QB was in that situation, RW, Rogers, Brady they all take that hit and give up the ball.

LOL. He failed to score his last 3 possessions and he was going against 3rd stringers. Don't get carried away like you do with your extreme politics.

The sack fumble was a pre-snap read that was missed according to Raible and Wyman on the radio. I have to get back home and watch the recording, but it sounds like something Lock should have seen and communicated before the snap and been able to avoid.

Lock is 6'4, 228lbs, strong arm, good mobility, and excelled in the SEC.....Basically everything you would want as a drafted QB.

Of course, Lock wasn't just drafted but it feels that way to me.

Bottom line, Drew is better than any QB is this year's draft and that's the way I'm going to think of him....A rookie.

Drew is a bang-average QB.

He is a guy that is prone to more peaks and valleys, so will give plus games and minus games regularly. Harder to plan around because you don't know what you will get.

But overall, he is average. Almost completely average.

Additionally, Drew is prone to make mistakes under pressure. Most QBs have a higher chance of making mistakes under pressure (except Wilson maybe), but Drew consistently makes bad decisions under pressure, and his accuracy drops into the toilet.

I don't see the reaction to pressure fixing. Maybe Pete can fix the peaks/valleys issue.

Yep. I was very encouraged by what Lock showed tonight, and I would be in support of this thread if literally anyone else posted it, but Welshers is clearly a pre-teen girl, because no other demographic is THIS hungry for attention.
Wrong! Not trolling. Yes obviously I'm being intentionally overboard and a little tongue in cheek but it was more a sarcastic response to the dormers! Believe it or not I really did think he showed promise out there. There have been QBs who had worst starts to their careers and still turned it around. This guy has a chance to still make it in this league, count it!

That's kinda what I thought. He also seemed to lock in (no pun intended) on his receiver and obviously didn't do a head check to his blind side. That wasn't Walter Jones at LT.

I think Drew looked good in this game. Some of his incompletions were still pretty accurate. Apparently he missed a pre-snap adjustment on the blitz/fumble play. I don't think he made any mistakes after the snap, though, because that pass rusher was able to get to him much quicker than you'd expect , and from the blindside.

Anyway, I'm not gonna read too much into a preseason game. Not sure how much he played against backups vs starrers. Preseason games can make average QBs look like all-pros. Not a huge sample of attempts, either, especially of 10 yards or more.

With that said, I predict Lock will be the starter. And he will be a Pro Bowl QB this year.

Lock throws a nice ball but thank God Stone isn’t our starting left tackle he’s gonna get one of our quarterbacks hurt. All Stone’s fat ass does is take up space on a practice squad

It didn't help that the LT fell on his ass instead of blocking.

Had it not been for that last play that cost us the game, I would have said that Lock had a slightly better outing than Geno. But on the last play, he failed to make his pre-snap read then didn't check his blind side as he locked onto his receiver, resulting in a strip sack. Making pre-snap reads are the same in any offense, and this wasn't his first rodeo.

True. Hopefully he'll get better, but there was a qb here for ten years who did that a few times a game.
Either he didn't see it or gambled, thinking he'd get the ball out before he got hit. But from his pesser, he said he should have called a hot.
Learning moment. Better now than week 1.

Yep that was a teachable moment, I bet he does not miss that read next time. So what? Preseason is designed for this type of stuff, you get live action life lessons without the ramifications of blowing a real game.

Comparing the two QBs my belief was that Lock won the night. When he came in there was a higher energy level from the O as a first observation. He was lucky with a great play to start to Melton who’s RAC set up a big gain and the O then had confidence. To me Genoseems to be missing that ‘follow me’ royal jelly.

I now don’t think Geno’s experience advantage is significant enough to allow him to stay in the lead for the job. Lock did make mistakes which looked like rookie mistakes but to my untrained eyes he looked better than Geno.

I need to see more but for sure he’s starting to gain quickly in the competition.
