The 49ers would have beat the Seahawks without Russ. His mobility was key in helping avoid pass rush
Offseason gonna offseasonHow is this a topic?
pure fantasy. They still would have won the super bowl. You have to remember it was their defense that carried them. Wilson was not yet all pro level in his second year when we won it all.
I literally said the defense and Lynch were the reasons they won it. One of the very top defenses of all time. Defense could still singlehandedly win SB's back then. It did again two years later when the Broncos won it with a washed Manning
I just want to thank you for putting a quote of me in your signature. It's an honor. I understand I'm kind of a big deal around here and that people are very reliant on my opinions, so it's good you can help to share them. The running game exploded in Pa
the running game exploded in large part because of Russ and Welshers you keep ignoring the 4th quarter success and multiple games Russ won on game winning drives. Statistically he had close to 4,000 yards, was the leading rushing QB, didn't turn the ball over, hit on the explosive play and had 30 touchdowns that year. He was already one of the best in the league at that point.
Soulish said it best, we don't make the SB without the defense, Lynch or Russ. All played a massive part.
I just think we all forget at times how good early Russ was. He was a monster early on.
On this point ^ I absolutely have to agree ^ other than a few brain-farts early on, he was still the best damned Franchise Quarterback the Seahawks had ever had. It's upsetting that a lot of the people here that are critical of Russ are putting forth some genuinely horrible justifications for it.
There are incredibly valid reasons to agree with the decision to move on from him. Making bad points about the 2012 zone read stuff isn't it. In fact, I absolutely love rookie Russ, and young Russ may be my favorite quarterback of all time.

>> I << was not one of the jokers who claimed that Flynn was as good, or hell, even CLOSE to being on Wilsons level.Lynch did help Wilson and Wilson helped Lynch. A ton of people claiming Wilson played little to no part in teams success is what I'm being critical of. Saying Wilsons running ability and being able to create an offense around that with the zone read that no one knew how to stop was in large part because of Wilson. You can't run it with Lynch and Flynn right?
That is "just the facts"
People can surely be critical of his shortcomings. I just think with those shortcomings he was in rarified air his first 1,2,3,5,10 etc years in the league with only a handful of guys.
I can’t really argue with that since this is all speculation. However, in terms of probability, Flynn fumbling while being sacked by Aldon Smith is more likely than Flynn making that touchdown play. IMOOn the other hand, Flynn probably doesn't lose the ball in a scramble fumble on the first play of the game. Just sayin'.
Lol of course you didn't offend me I got a great laugh out of it. Trust me, I know how big of a deal I am around here. As to if I was trolling, I guess we'll never knowLooks like I offended you, apologies. I thought you’d get a kick out of it but maybe not. I also didn’t realize you were being serious with the multiple SB’s takes? I thought you were trolling?
"Jumped up a ton from the year before"??, sounds to me like it's YOU who is trying to downplay Lynch's explosiveness, did you watch that run against the Saints the year before???? it was that run that caused 'BEASTQUAKE'.No one is saying Wilson did all by himself though, I said multiple times they helped each other. You’re the only one who’s actively trying to argue someone out of the equation. Are you arguing to just to argue?
Lynch jumped up a ton from the year before the zone read. If I remember correctly he want up .5 yards per carry which is huge for a running back. Lynch is one of my favorite all time Seahawks but it’s ok to admit Wilson made lynch even more dominant and what a resource for a young QB to have in Lynch as well. It was perfect for everyone.
I still don’t know what you’re trying to argue. Lynch is an all time great. Everyone admits that. Doesn’t make your argument that Russ was an afterthought any better. So enjoy your weekend I’m done arguing about it"Jumped up a ton from the year before"??, sounds to me like it's YOU who is trying to downplay Lynch's explosiveness, did you watch that run against the Saints the year before???? it was that run that caused 'BEASTQUAKE'.
The RO by Russ garnered the most success because of Marshawn Lynch and his pounding style & Push the pile.
It was Lynch that gave the Seahawks Offense that 'Bust Your Balls Identity'
In the past 5 years, Defenses haven't really had to honor the Running attack like they did when the Beast was there.
Not just any RB demanded as much respect since he parted ways with the Seahawks either.
Matt flynn his career stats
61% compt, 17tds, 11 ints, 85 passer. NO he would not have done well for us. Even his best season was sub par
I dont get what argument you're making; those are hardly bad stats. I'm not even ripping on your boy Russ, which you have an unhealthy obsession with. I'm just saying I think Flynn would have done well with what he had around him. I'm not saying he would have been better than Russ.Matt flynn his career stats

Complimenting Flynn isnt bashing Russ. I'm not making the argument that he would have been better, but I think he would have done well with the lead role.I realize a lot of people just can't stand Russ, and that's fine. But when did Matt f'ing Flynn become Joe Montana?
Dude played 7 GAMES IN 7 YEARS.

I believe that had PC gone with Flynn, he would have performed at an Andy Dalton level, i.e. 8 or 9 years of meh with no results to speak of(SB appearance highly unlikely). If Wilson was released and ended up on another team, my guess is 8 or 9 years of playoff appearances with 1, maybe 2 SBs.Complimenting Flynn isnt bashing Russ.
