Pete saw what Shanny was doing with RGIII, and suggested to Bevell (actually directing him) to implement the zone read. It wasn't as sophisticated as what they were doing in WAS, but it spread the field, and both Lynch & Wilson's YPC exploded.
Wilson had a ton of magical plays in critical situations that a game manager could never pull off.
He also set a bunch of records in those early years, placing him with guys like Manning and Marino. And runners like Vick, Cunningham, and Young.
Wilson is one of the greatest dual threat QBs of all-time statistically, and has the most wins through 10 seasons.
It'll hit home in a couple of seasons when Wilson is having continued success in Denver and the Seahawks are floundering, still trying to find there next QB.
