Is everyone already giving PC a pass for next season?

He won't lose his job because the Seahawks fail to win 10 games. He'll lose his job because the decisions he's made during the last 5+ years are coming to a head. A new QB and OL, (basically new offense), will be needed and the franchise won't go into a rebuild with a guy who will be 72 next season unless he does something pretty spectacular this season.
Every team goes through this every 10 years or so in some form. People are crazy thinking only PC has to retool a team because of HIS failure.

It is delusional. Tremendously delusional to think Carroll can deliver any kind of winning program here again.

But it is going to take 2-3 years for people to figure it out.
As long as the team can sell tickets and cash checks, no change is coming. And even that will be delayed.

Pete isn't even good at the things that made him great before. And he probably doesn't have the ability or acumen to do those things anymore. But still just as awful at all the things he struggled with.
We are still stuck with it for a few years.

More doomer hyperbole. It is in no way delusional to think that Pete building a winner again is possible. Simple matter of track record.

Sure, we all know you don't think it will happen. Cool, we all have opinions. But delusion? That's just... not accurate

Agree, if anything, resetting a stalled culture and reintroducing a true team philosophy after 6 years of trying to make a one man show function as a collective will make it so he won't need a pass.

I don't think it is possible.

Would love to be wrong.
But for Pete to succeed he has to follow the blueprint HE wrote. That process works. He just stopped using it. Probably about 5-7 years ago.
Unless he wakes up and does the things that led to him winning? That isn't changing. I am not even sure it is possible at this point without a QB.

He never should have gone all-in on Wilson. Agree with many here on that.
But the changing of his philosophies is what killed him. Not that. And it is probably too late for him to fix it now.

I wouldn't underestimate what shifting the reigns of leadership in a culture can do. The team was built on leadership that would beat the crap out if you but was fast and intelligent and proud. I think Pete and John have not so quietly set the table for that again. The pieces are there. I think the defense collectively has a chip. Inthink the offense is eager to prove (collectively) what it can do, post Wilson. And I think the philosophy on both sides of the ball has been handed over to a young, forward thinking group of coordinators, ready to make their mark.

You could feel the optimism, frustration, anger, and anticipation from John and Pete, at the post Wilson/ Wagner departure presser. Especially from John. He was crystal clear that they were beyond ready to turn the page.

I think this team is primed to hit the ground running.

Pete likely has near 100% job security for the next two years. I could see a sacking late season year two if it’s all gone to rubbish.

How he should be measured this coming year is player development and team buy-in, not by wins. It’s a rebuild, you should be willing to suffer short term for long term gains.

Year two becomes a mix of development and wins trending upward.

If you’re not a contender by year three the rebuild has failed.
This makes sense to me -

and I'd agree - his contract seems to match up/slightly longer than the 2024 'sales' thing.

And people are forgetting a basic premise: You don't fire the store manager because a cashier messes up. You fire the cashier.

Pete's got a track record at 1000 things other than RW. I'm going to give him a pass as his employer 100 times out of 100 for that.

The only reason that RW wasn't gone sooner was politics.

So, hire a new cashier. Leave the manager in place. Like my wife says: "dude you have a pass (not that kind of pass) for 1000 things that you've done well and right - not the thing that you ****** up this week!".

And contrary to popular opinion. Pete had ABSOLUTELY ALMOST NO SAY in the RW shit. That, my friends: All JS. All week and twice on Sundays. Read the JS comments.

I might be tired of some Pete shit - but the dude has a track record - even in slight contrast to my other post on this thread. We don't win an Owl without Pete. We could have won one without RW.

Having said that - if he could throw a ******* challenge flag instead of a phone - well - I can see it ;)

I got a great idea! Let's see if other NFL team will agree to play us like once a week for 17 weeks or so. That way we can see how our team performs against other NFL teams and if we improve over the course of what I'll call a 'season'. Then we'll be able to tell if Pete can effectively put together and coach up a winning franchise.

Who's with me?!

LOLOL Wilson was moving the needle, but NOWHERE NEAR to where it needed to be, and the haters have laid all the blame on Pete for what >Wilson< hasn't or couldn't deliver.
It wasn't Pete who kept killing drives with all those 3 & outs & coming up short on delivering, but all the blame is being directed at Pete for what WILSON WASN'T GETTING DONE.

Wilson was getting it done, done as getting on national media highlights, done as being talked about by national media talking heads. To achieve that, converting couple more 3rd downs in a pedestrian manner ain't gonna, got to be the moon balls, a deep bomb after out of this world escape from pass rushers. But you may argue, as you should, what about the time of possession? winning? hey those were Pete's failure to provide HOF linemen, and antiquated offense philosophies.

He was getting it done my friend.

We traded many picks. A lot of first rounders too. Few of those trades worked out. Some were disastrous (and looked so from the moment of the trade imo). Rams went to the super bowl and won (after getting a good QB). Our roster has gotten progressively worse (after they built a winner). Is that not on Pete?
How could it not be? He directs this team and he has directed it downward for many years now.
True trading a late first hasn't really panned out for the Seahawks, turning a late first to gold is hard. Kudos to the Rams for making it work. but you seem to miss the point that drafting late in rounds is hard to over come and that it usually doesn't work out. It's unreasonable to expect a team to turn water into wine, even if it has happened on a rare occasion.

I thought Pete should of been fired after the 49 debacle as it was the only way to save this team. Turns out trading The Brand would of also been the smart thing to do as well. Pete maybe has a year or 2 left anyway. Who knows maybe this is his last year and they hand the reigns to someone else to select the next franchise qb. He won't be here much longer but is going to be easier to replace than a 250 mill anchor of an aging and deteriorating qb who only cares about himself.

Denver knows how to win? really? what've they won? what's their winning record lol. And since when Seahawks is not a team that wants to win?
Hes obviously is referring to their legacy status which he is hoping to ride the coat tails on to try and rebuild his career. I'm sure all hawks fans that put the team first and were pre 2012 fan hope he flops.
