I have seen multiple mock drafts where the "expert" has the Hawks taking one of the top tackles with their first pick. In the comment for that pick the "experts" have stated that "it's ironic that the Hawks take a lineman right after Wilson is traded as he had been clamoring for them to shore up the line for years". These " experts" obviously know virtually nothing as they failed to realize the Hawks had acquired the likes of Brown, Jackson, Ifedi, Pocic, Lewis, etc. via the draft or through trades the last 5 years.

It just burns me up when they call out the Hawks when in reality they actually have addressed the issue many times. All I want is for these " experts " to do just a little research before putting out an article or mock draft. Is that too much to ask for?

If they addressed the issue satisfactorily, why do we still constantly have line issues? If those you listed, I’d say only Brown was a good pick up. Just because they added linemen doesn’t mean they did it well. Plus there’s the absolute gigantic cherry on top of Dee over Creed last year. I don’t know how to ever get over that. Dude graded out as the best center in the league last year. Dee did jack shit (even when he could be on the field) and he’s behind a top 3 WR combo instead of a desperately needed center.

Pointing out the irony of taking a highly rated first round lineman for a change is a spot on observation. Just because it’s s somewhat negative story about the Hawks doesn’t make it untrue. It’s a lazy complaint, and that’s being nice about it.

I'm going to say this again..There is no OL that looks
good with TeamRuss! behind the center period.
I really believe this why PC/JS didn't waste too much
into OL besides the Brown trade to make TeamRuss!
happy because they knew by his play (Sandlot) that it
would be a waste and I totally agree..
I hope Denver enjoys the holding ball too long and bailing
out of pocket early because I sure won't miss it at all.

Our OL in 2021 provided 2.4 seconds of pocket time, that is more than Brady, Rodgers and Big Ben enjoyed, same as what Mahomes got. Our OL did the job, although the QB pressure stat hinted otherwise. Care to guess why our franchise QB received more pressure when he was getting above average time when compare to other franchise QB of same caliber?

Ifedi and Pocic were awful. Brown was good until last season when he just wasnt. Lewis and Jackson had their positions flip flopped last season for God only knows why and neither were as effective as they could have been. Carroll and his staff has done a horrible job with the Oline since they've been here.

I'm sure Denver is going to enjoy the 10 to 11 wins Wilson provides for them. Hope everybody enjoys the 4 to 6 wins Seattle will have this season.

Jackson didn't have his position "flip flopped." He's primarily been a right guard in this league, which is why they put him there. Ifedi wasn't awful, but he was a dipshit. Pocic was bang ass average.

The oversimplified exaggeration is old.

Thats because this team has been terrible at identifying quality OL talent by drafting more OL than anybody else in the league almost.

We invested plenty in the OL when Russ was here. The problem was evaluation of those investments.

James Carpenter and Okung and Ifedi all signed lucrative second term contracts. Joey Hunt was a 7th round pick for a reason he was too light in the ass. Damien Lewis so far is great. We just need a center and a left tackle.

Ifedi had back to back season of 65+ on PFF, but clearly he wasn't in Chicago's long term plan as he played less in 2021 than 2022, and was let go after the season was over. But he played better as G for the bears than as T for the Hawks. We drafted him mostly for his athleticism, but he turned out to be not quick enough so he had to cheat which caused lots of penalties??

RB health has also been a sneaky factor here. We all know about our troubles, but the few times we have had a healthy Penny or Carson available we have been able to run the ball very effectively. That factor has had a cascading effect on the rest of the team. Our pass protection has looked a lot better when the opposing team has to respect the run and doesn't see it coming because it's 3rd and 13 again.

Just because they added linemen doesn’t mean they did it well. Plus there’s the absolute gigantic cherry on top of Dee over Creed last year. I don’t know how to ever get over that. Dude graded out as the best center in the league last year.
Pocic allowed two sacks last year in 17 games. Moreover, while Penny was healthy Pocic was twice the highest graded run blocker on the team via PFF. He also had some very poorly graded games when we had no RBs. The view of OL performance is skewed heavily by RB play, QB play, and offensive play calling even when people are supposed to be considering it in a vacuum.

Even if you assume that Humphrey would have been better, ask yourself how significant that would have been for the offense. Was blocking at the center position really a key reason for our record last season? Furthermore, why was Humphrey selected at #63 if he was that great of a prospect and the center position was that important Linderbaum is a much better prospect this year and I still see him falling into the second round in most mock drafts.

The answer can be found if you watch any of our RB highlights from last season and pay attention to Pocic. You'll see he was almost never engaged solo blocking a DT, and nearly always part of either a double team or moving to the second level to take on a LB.

The point of my original post was that some reporters are saying not that Russ is gone we will concentrate on the line. That’s just not true as they have been addressing it for some time.

Russ will have one of his top 3 seasons (statistically).
