Horton and Ryan are both 3-4 guys no? I actually like the idea of bringing a 3-4 guy in to inject some more creativity into our brand of hybrid defense. I believe Ryan may be going to the Rams, but another 3-4 guy to throw into the hat is Romeo Crennel.
a 3-4 in a run heavy division? not sure if i like that.

I dont really know what to think of this, I do believe that there could be better DC's out there, but I am also a believer in continuity and the affects it has on others.

It's joke about how his defense plays.

Wasn't suggesting we run a 3-4 / change base scheme, only a meld of defensive minds / scheme so to speak. Maybe that just isn't possible in the real world?

For the record, not a fan of the Ryan's.

I think a DC would be salivating to get a hold of the players on the Seahawks defense, and believe that while Bradley had to do with the defense's success, that the skills of the players on the field made it easier to scheme (i.e. you have a shutdown corner who can take away half the field, and two CBs who are amazing at press coverage).

OMG, everyone talking about Lovie Smith and all these 4-3 guys just need to stop talking. Pete will either promote from within or find somebody with a similar mindset from the Monte Kiffin, Bud Grant school of thought. Somebody that has knowlege of and will utilize his preferred 4-3 under scheme. On this team, the DC is an extension of Pete. No way in hell is he going to bring in somebody that wants radically change philosophy (and guys like Rob Ryan won't want to change theirs to work for Pete).

Nope, my money's on bringing back former D line coach Dan Quinn if Gus leaves town.

I'm with ya...I didn't think coaches in the playoffs were allowed to interview? As with any position, people focus a lot of their time on preparing for it. I'm sure he'd never admit it but there's no way his mind was 100% on the game all week.

In typical PC/JS fashion, any replacement is going to be some guy nobody has ever heard of, probably from the CFL.

I'd take Ryan - but would be doing cartwheels if they got Horton.

Don't joke. If Bevel goes on to bigger and better things, I noticed that Pete Carroll was on the same staff in Minnesota as Montreal coach Marc Trestman. Trestman has been talked about to go back to the NFL for years.

Could happen. No dumber than saying Lovie Smith for DC.
