This. I think he's cared more about simply making as much money as he can for a long time. Maybe since 2019. Everything since around that time has been about maxing out his last contract.

He knows what he can and can't do. Everything we've seen over the last few elyears has been simply covering over his deficiencies with smoke and mirrors to distract the masses from the truth. I think he stopped really caring about getting better a long time ago. Or, maybe his plan all along was just to ride this thing out as long as he could doing it his way. He was gifted the perfect situation in Seattle. The moment they knew he'd never change, circa 2019, and started looking to the future, he knew his game was up. Kudos for him for securing a 1/4 billion dollar deal. But I think his ride is about to end. And I don't think he anticipated taking the hit to his brand that his shenanigans have brought. He got his money, but what's his name going to be worth?
But shoot, maybe he's smarter than all of us and knows the world is about to end and that that $1/4 Billy he and Ciara have amassed over the last few years gets them a ticket on Elons Arc, and salvation. While us broke fans are left to fight eachother over scraps as this whole blue ball we float through space on goes to sh!t.

LETS RIDE...
He was never going to be any better because as you said he plays his game
not the game
..It was over a long time ago people just couldn't see past the con
job he was pulling.

Conversely I just watched Geno live on NFL Network TC coverage and he looks legit slimmed down, and that's someone who wasn't overweight to begin with. He said he is on a no meat, no dairy, no sweets (no fun haha) diet. It shows.

Paging Mr. Wilson.

No meat as in fish and chicken? No protein including eggs?

The sticky question is, exactly when are things supposed to look better? Perhaps, the running game dominates and all of this hand-wringing will be for naught. At this point, we are left to wonder where the disconnect is coming from. As we venture down the road, until there is some sort of dramatic turnaround, it looks more and more like we are headed for another disappointing year.

It does make you wonder if something deeper is going on with Russell Wilson. At some point, perhaps soon, the question may be as simple as, “Russ, are you okay?”

Whatever is happening with Wilson he needs to work through it fast. The Broncos can no afford a slow start in their first four games as that is probably the most favorable part of their schedule.

The term fat and happy comes to mind. I sincerely think his "No time for sleep" mantra died around 2017-2018 or so. He went from hyper living, eating, breathing football to Ciara where it's about the land of magazine covers and perfumes and commercials and endorsements...He lost his way, his drive, his will to truly do what it takes to be the best.

As competitive as he is, I think the money, the fame and the intoxicating chatter of his entourage became too much.

And now here before us all stands a former, older, bloated, far less focused and far more delusional version of himself from what we Seahawks fans knew and loved for the better part of a decade.

Sad really.

They obviously need to improve OLine play and bring in more offensive weapons.

Seriously though, Bronco fans won't stand for 7 games of hitting DBs in the helmet. RCW has 2 or 3 games to show some competency. If their D can win games with 10 or 12 points, maybe they'll be patient and get to game 5. I honestly think he'll get benched and SP picks up a vet FA well before mid-season. ...probably call it an injury...

His confidence is shot. He'll second guess himself with every throw. Not sure if there's a way to fix that. Maybe some sort of shock therapy?

I can’t imagine him being worse than last year…because that was pretty damn bad.

I don’t think I care, either way, if he sucks or not now. As a fan, you do become attached to players…guys like Marshawn, Bobby, Kam, Sherm, Alexander, Largent….stay close to the heart.

This very forum helped me see the light when it came to Russ. He should really do the honorable thing once that disaster of a contract expires and thank Pete. Maybe clear Golden Tate’s image as well. Lol..,

I have been speculating that Wilson has fragile psyche, and Pete was good at handling it. I think no one knows that part of Wilson more than Pete, he protected and nurtured it when Wilson was with the Hawks. Pete also 'played' with that fragile psyche after he left, first with booing, then the Geno listened and followed coaches' plays, to Geno wore wrist band, Pete kept needling Wilson's fragile psyches.

Best way to judge him is if he gets the ball out on time, if not we'll same Ole same Ole, will get benched before week 8 or have a mysterious not career treating injury to preserve a trade.

There are some doozies out there. Boston trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees for cash. The Lakers trading the Jazz an aging Gail Goodrich for the pick that landed Magic Johnson. There's the Celtics' trade that brought a youngish Robert Parish and draftee Kevin McHale to them for the picks that brought the Warriors the utter disappointment of Joe Barry Caroll and a nondescript forward named Rickey Brown.

There's a bunch out there.

Not to mention the Cowboys trading Herschel Walker, which set the table for their multiple Lombardi's.
