There needs to be an asterisk on that statement of *According to PFF with no links or graphs provided to show this
Actually - THIS is more of an appropriate asterisk.

A couple of the stats in there were surprising to me. Particularly the 'badness' on the intermediate routes - but goodness on the short stuff.

One thing the author and I agree on: JSN is going to be used/good for the intermediate game. Geno's got new toys.... let's see them work!

I have him in my personal QB list at #10. That, and $2.75 might get you a cup of coffee.

Ok guys. Have at it. lol.
No issue with Geno being at 15. How are CJ Stroud and Bryce Young ahead of Desmond Ridder at this point? Neither Stroud or Young have played an NFL game yet. Ridder may not have been great but he should be ranked higher than them for at least playing NFL games. Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't say Smith at #15 was wrong but it's at the absolute bottom end of where he could be placed. No way would I have Wilson above him after last season. Tannehill, Mac Jones, and Dalton all look to be about 5 places too high. I think players listed from #30 to #40 could be listed in any order and whoever was near the bottom of that group could feel aggrieved.

Chris Simms gushed over Geno Smith, & had him at #15, he said that he would have placed him a lot higher but with him only having ONE year as the Seahawks Starting Quarterback, he couldn't justify placing him into the top ten just yet.

Also, running game woes and horrendous interior offensive line play especially the second half of the season. Makes a QBs job awfully hard when you're one dimensional and can't protect the guy with the ball at all.

...pretty good read. If you're questioning Geno, here's some food-for-thought on his off-season prep and frame of mind.
There's also a segment on Brock and Salk where they review the tope stories coming out of camp and tops for Brock was Geno and how:

1. He's completely changed his body from lanky to noticeably stronger, physically solid
2. He's undeniably QB1 running practice. He goes on to talk about how he looks markedly more impressive than last year and that its beyond obvious that he's a bonafied #1 on the team / in the league in the way he commands the offense.

Bodes well for this year. I honestly think he's going to be better all around this year than last. maybe not off the charts 70% completion, but high 60s. Similar / slightly better TD to int, and more dangerous pulling the ball down and making teams pay with his legs. No not in a L Jackson way, but more the way J Allen can just punish you in critical moments.

This was one of the big things I highlighted after the season finished - last year was Smith's first full year as a started in nearly a decade, it stands only to reason that he should feel more comfortable, confident and poised with a full offseason where he is #1, and has experience and his own gametape to review and understand what he can do better.

Add that to an overall improved line-up on the offensive side of the ball and I am anticipated a marked improvement this year

15th? Seems some people have to see the sun come up to believe there's another day coming.

Great podcast from KJ and Luke. The whole thing is worth a listen but FF to 42 minutes for Luke's take on Geno. He touches on his feelings about him from the moment Seattle signed him, to his starting in 2021 and folks claiming he played terribly, to his breakout season.

Recognizng how great Geno's accomplishments were isnt blindly worshiping him. Nor is thinking he's just getting started. Our FO landed us a Franchise guy for the forseeable future.

As a Niners fan I was shocked how well Geno played last year.
Last year was supposed to be year one of a multi decade can’t find a decent quarterback dark age.
Ain’t write back wrecked that, just casually makes the pro bowl and leads the league in completion percentage playing with rookie tackles and an inconsistent running attack.
lol

He was top 4 for the first 7-or-so games last year. Here's to hoping he can perform at that clip for the entirety of 2024.

Not even close. Twenty-fifth in points allowed. Twenty-sixth in yards allowed. Lions, Vikings, Bears, Texans, and Raiders were worse in both categories.

Fine, we along with those teams had a sub college level defense. This year, we will have an actual nfl defense.

Here's how PFF has the starting quarterbacks ranked going into the season. It's completely subjective as they're tossing in the rookie quarterbacks who have yet to throw a pass in the NFL:

1. PATRICK MAHOMES, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 2. JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS 3. JOE BURROW, CINCINNATI BENGALS 4. JUSTIN HERBERT, LOS ANGELES CHARGERS 5. AARON RODGERS, NEW YORK JETS 6. LAMAR JACKSON, BALTIMORE RAVENS 7. JALEN HURTS, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
8. TREVOR LAWRENCE, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 9. KIRK COUSINS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS 10. DAK PRESCOTT, DALLAS COWBOYS 11. TUA TAGOVAILOA, MIAMI DOLPHINS 12. MATTHEW STAFFORD, LOS ANGELES RAMS 13. DESHAUN WATSON, CLEVELAND BROWNS 14. DEREK CARR, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 15. GENO SMITH, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 16. JARED GOFF, DETROIT LIONS 17. DANIEL JONES, NEW YORK GIANTS 18. JUSTIN FIELDS, CHICAGO BEARS 19. RYAN TANNEHILL, TENNESSEE TITANS 20. RUSSELL WILSON, DENVER BRONCOS 21. MAC JONES, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 22. KENNY PICKETT, PITTSBURGH STEELERS 23. BROCK PURDY, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 24. JIMMY GAROPPOLO, LAS VEGAS RAIDERS 25. BRYCE YOUNG, CAROLINA PANTHERS 26. JORDAN LOVE, GREEN BAY PACKERS 27. SAM HOWELL, WASHINGTON COMMANDERS 28. BAKER MAYFIELD, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS 29. COLT MCCOY, ARIZONA CARDINALS 30. C.J. STROUD, HOUSTON TEXANS 31. DESMOND RIDDER, ATLANTA FALCONS 32. ANTHONY RICHARDSON, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS.

IMO Geno might be ranked just a tad too low. I'd have him ranked above Watson, Carr, and Prescott, perhaps Cousins as well. But I'd put Goff ahead of him.
