If you like smash-mouth football, this is your game. Both teams can run the ball and have defenses that can’t stop the run. If the refs get over-active it probably will be with holding penalties on running plays.

Go Lions!

Me too Jer..

I can't help go back to the fumble called back due to forward progress and the 42 minute replay review of DK's 1st down catch. Either one would have sealed the game for us.
For poor officiating the New Orleans game would be my worst to go back to. For Seahawks just plain blowing it, that's the Tampa Bay game. Sure, Vegas was the bigger gimme, but to see us just trash everything that was working on defense because 'Tampa can't run'... that was peak example of how we can be our own worst enemy.

Rodger vs Brady. That's what they want.
Although as previously mentioned, the Script clearly has Erin in the post season vs Brady. That's what brings ratings. Not Geno

You guys realize that the Bucs are locked into the #4 seed, and that the Packers will be the #7 seed if they make the playoffs?

The Packers would need to beat the #2 seed (likely SF) and then the #1 seed, both on the road, to even have a chance at getting to a TB vs GB matchup in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Bucs would also have to win in the WC round and the divisional round, and don't look now, but the Bucs very well might be the worst team in the playoffs this season.

In other words, a Rodgers vs Brady matchup in the playoffs is incredibly unlikely and is going to take a whole boatload of "steering" and/or "rigging" to accomplish. Seems pretty far fetched to me, and it also seems pretty far fetched that they would "steer" the week 17 games in the hopes of eventually getting that very unlikely matchup.

Very true BUT I am pretty confident, the league would rather have GB in the playoffs over Seattle. Just saying, steering or not.

Will be very interesting to keep an eye on the officiating of that game.

If you’re correct we will probably see some BS in our game as well.
Is there a desire to interfere with our game?

If the packers win all our game does is some minor changes in the middle of the draft order.

If the packers fail to win the last play-off spot is between us and the Lions, are they a bigger draw than us?

Usually it's one game a year we say "dang, that's the one that came back to haunt us."

This year it was several. We had multiple chances to not be in this situation to count on the Lions but here we are.

Actually there is now the Saturday schedule has been released.

With the scheduling of Lions v Packers not on Saturday I am pretty sure it will be SNF and that means if we win the Lions will have nothing to play for and there will bew much less on the prime time game.

I think the Lions want to show the world they're for real, regardless of who's in and who's out of the playoffs by the time their game vs GB starts, because pride is a big motivator. If so, then I expect they'll be bringing with them 64-ounce cans of whoop-ass. We'll see.

We still have to beat the lambs don’t forget or it doesn’t matter the outcome of lions packers ….
True.

Hawks have to take care of business. This team is full of young players that have to learn to win late in the season when a lot is on the line.

Why even watch football if you all think it's rigged?

Hawks ain't going nowhere in the playoffs with Geno at the helm anyway. At this point, it's better to not make it and move up the draft order.

I find it hard to get excited about a .500ish team. The current playoff format is absurd, with 14 out of 32 teams qualifying, allowing mediocre teams like ours to advance to the postseason. The concern isn't with providing fans with the highest quality product, it's maximizing their profit.

And it's not just the fact that so many teams qualify. Taking away two first round byes causes teams to rest their starters in the final week rather than motivate them to play balls to the wall through the entire regular season, turning a lot of those Week 18 contests into a glorified preseason game.

I agree we are extremely unlikely to get anywhare in the play-offs but it is not because of Geno. Geno is better than any of the QBs the 49ers have for example. Most games this season our defence has been terrible. I think we would be far more likely to go all the way if we had a top D than if we had an Allan or Mahomes at QB.

After reading some of the comments in this thread, those are exactly my thoughts.

If you have such a conspiratorial mind that it permits you to believe that the NFL is rigged, then why bother watching, let alone be so attached to it as to participate in an activity such as this forum?

With such fertile minds, it's no wonder so many whacky conspiracy theories take root.

I completely agree that way too many teams make it and why the league does it. I also agree that the lower teams typically have no shot. I think this year though with no dominant teams a lower seed could win so it wouldn’t completely shock me if Seattle snuck out a win or two

Dear Jared Goff,

We know there was a time when we hated you and rooted for you to be an utter and complete failure as a Ram. If you can - please disregard all of that and know that we are rooting for you this Sunday to step into the QB greatness that you have deserved all along.

Deep down we always believed in you,
Seahawk Nation

It has been a strange year. Going into the final week, there are 4 teams in the NFC (Eagles, Cowboys, Niners, and Vikings) and 3 in the AFC (Chiefs, Bills, and Bengals) that are still in contention for the #1 seed and a first-round bye. I could easily see a team like the Packers going to the Super Bowl. I don't remember something like that happening before.

But that doesn't deter the fact that the playoffs are bloated with very mediocre teams, like the Patriots, Steelers, Chargers, Giants, et al.
