Tough loss, but good lord listen to you guys. It's mucking Farch and everybody is in a panic already.

Lefty/righty matchups have been used in baseball since the 19th Century. Literally every team does it. Welcome to April baseball. Gonna be a long season listening to youse guys. I may need to block some folks. But then I wouldn't get your "wisdom" in other forums. Dilemma.

Those teams were further from the playoffs last year than the team whose management you're currently calling retarded.

But why do I bother. There's a certain kind of fan who just wants people fired, everyone, immediately, all the time, over and over again.
I don’t know… baseball is a game with a lot of luck. Yeah we got to the precipice but we were also inches from losing to Detroit, even close to not making the playoffs. Baseball is just way harder. I think you could play a season ten times and have different teams in the World Series every time. So then watching them experiment with lineups and stuff (still…) is like watching a football team run a draw on 3rd and long…. GO FOR WHAT YOU NEED!!!!!

It’s frustrating. You move your line up all over except Julio and cal…. Who aren’t really hitting…

Except they aren't really doing that at all. Cal, Julio, Naylor, and Randy are our 2-3-4-5 hitters. That's been consistent and hasn't changed (except when Cal gets a day off because starting catchers usually get at least 1 game off a week). Young and Rivas have been in the 8 and 9 spots every game. That's 6 spots in the lineup that have been consistent. Hardly just Julio and Cal.

Our lineup against Righties has been consistent.
Donovan
Cal
Julio
Naylor
Randy
Raley
Canzone
Young
Rivas

Our lineup against Lefties has also been consistent except when Cal got a day off.
Refsnyder
Cal
Julio
Naylor
Randy
Donovan
Robles
Rivas
Young

They're not just randomly changing the lineup around all the time or experimenting to see what works. It's very obvious this is the plan.

Seems like a solid plan and makes perfect sense to me. Refsnyder hits lefties better than Donovan. Robles hits lefties better than Raley. They don't want to take Donovan completely out of the lineup, so he moves to the 6 spot and Canzone is taken out, but is a good option to pinch hit later in the game. This all makes sense, and are the only changes to the lineup when they face a Lefty starting pitcher.

It's also early AF in the season, so before anyone chimes in with "but it isn't working", maybe lets give it more than 6 games? It's waaay too small of a sample size to come to any conclusions on what is or isn't working.

Our biggest problem right now isn't that we're making 3 changes to the lineup against lefties (that all make perfect sense). It's that we're getting next to nothing out of Cal, Julio, and Naylor.

This was not a very good series for the M's and it wont be the last. I think once our 2-5 hitters start you know hitting then we will find our grove. I'm still not worried at all about this team. I would rather struggle now then late in august and September.

I'm just going to say this, baseball is a weird sport. I know it's only been a handful of games, but seeing your 2,3,4 hitters barely combine for a .200 average is wild.

Rivas is ass again batting below .200. Bring up Emerson. Julio hasn't learned a thing. Really sad to see since we have Edgar in the dugout.

Pretty rough series for M's hitters. Honestly pretty fortunate that we got even 1 win out of that.

It's early, but Cole Young has been the best player on the team so far.

Seeing nothing to stop me from keeping my seat on the "**** Julio" bandwagon.

it's been 1 week lol calm down. This team has and will always be known for slow starts. The Indians and Yankees are really good teams, you would even say playoff teams.

This may be the worst defense in the infield we have had in years. The offense will come around. They always suck early in the season. It would be nice to come out hot early once in a while.

I do see at some point we will see Colt come up and replace Donavon at 3B and see Donavon move around more in the field. We just have to wait for JP to come back first.

Next year I see Colt at SS, BD in left field. I love Cole's range but, his arm is well below avg. It looks like 2nd is his for the foreseeable future. Its nice to have some young sticks coming up through the Mariners system, both Cole and Colt can give them a significant lift on O
