I totally get why some people feel that way, but to be honest, I think there were a lot of very valid reasons to believe that a 1 through 5 consisting of Donovan, Cal, Julio, Naylor, and Randy would be pretty damn good.

Randy is so overrated

He's been pretty good so far this season. He's got the most hits, most runs, most stolen bases, 2nd highest OBP, and 3rd highest BA on the team. And no, his numbers aren't just good by M's standards. They're just good.

That said, I agree that he's overrated in general. He made a big name for himself by having one of the best postseasons in baseball history with the Rays in 2020, but over the course of his entire career he's been a pretty good player, but certainly not a great one.

We basically suck against soft throwing, throwback to the 90s pitchers. Once they put in a pitcher that could throw a real big league fastball, we started making contact and getting hits.

A's hitters can make contact like demons. Hits, bloopers, and foul balls.

I guess by the rules, a player can't "catch" the ball with his shirt. Who knew?

Munoz blows the save, and gets the win.

I don't think it's weird at all that major league umpires know the rules of the game they are being well paid to officiate. It's a pretty critical aspect of their job to know the rules.
