Wouldn't expect a blow-out this weekend.

Eh...I would really like to see our offense use this as an opportunity to tune up the offense and establish a good rhythm. If it's humming along, get off the gas in the later part of the second half and give the subs a run if the lead is safe.

On defense, I'd like to see them continue to experiment with some of the cool LEO mix and matching they did Sunday, and start blending Clemons in if he is GTG.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for too. That's all I was trying to say. I hope they just don't come out flat and vanilla from the very beginning.

Wouldnt be surprised if we play aggressive. I know its not fair/right to say this is a practice, but if any game was, this is it. Why not pull some high risk plays out of the book to get some real game practice with them.

There is no way you come from the high that the 49er game was and keep that momentum / will to win. Not saying the team will lose or not play their best but the emotional factor just can't be there / you can't be as pumped up as against the 49er. I think this will apply to the team and the crowd.

With that said - perfect schedule for once. A "trap game" in the sense that you won't get to the same level but lets face it anything above high school level should blow out the Jaguars. They suck - went like 7 quarters of the season with 2 pts ........ we should blow them out with 3rd stringers and PS players.

So I agree - probably won't blow them out but don't forget bad Jaguar QB play can lead to a lot of quick Seahawks points (think about Buffalo game last year)......

Point by point:

1.) Injuries - even with a conservative game plan and a lot of the running game, we'll move the ball well down the field on them. With Okung out for most of the game against SF, we still held our own against one of the best defensive front lines in the game. Our passing game was good for just eight completions, 142 yards, and a touchdown. In a blowout. Jax is hardly the same caliber. Our running game will do just fine scoring us points.

2.) Even with missing key players like pass rushers, Okung, etc., we curb-stomped a very good team last Sunday. We missed several key opportunities, down several key players, and still sent them packing whipped and beaten. We don't need all of our key guys for this game to score.

3.) I don't believe much in the "emotional let down" factor either, at least not with this team. Pete has said that they are playing every game now like it is the championship game. That will play into this match-up. Our defense is nasty. They get in the heads of their opponents and cause a lot of turnovers, whether their opponents believe they are outmatched going into the game or not. They will take the ball away and either put it in the end zone or give it to our offense to do the same.

4.) Gus Bradley - I don't see us taking it easy on him and giving him the illusion he's doing better than he actually is just because he used to work here.

This has the makings of a trap game, but if as Pete says, they play every one of them like a championship game, this one won't be close.

This team can't be compared to our teams of the past in my opinion. This team has such a hunger for greatness. It really comes from Pete's "compete" mantra. Plus our team leader's will not allow a letdown at home.

I really see this as a statement game. Rarely do teams get favored by more than 20 points in the NFL. I see us using this game as a pedestal game to get us ready for the next two road games. I expect us to really get the passing game going and I expect us to ease Micheal into the offense (especially a couple screens now that Okung is out and teams will blitz more). On defense we will be very aggressive and I would look to see Clemons getting a few reps.

Jacksonville is the worst team in the league with a coach who is way over his head, just coming off a loss after traveling all the way back west to Oakland (most likely with out their starting quarterback and starting running back also). We are the best team in the league right now playing at home. There is a reason we are favored by 20. Would not be surprised to see line move to 22 by kickoff. It will be a beatdown!

Leave no doubt. You don't start flat footed against ANYONE. Once your up by 20-30 points, sure, dual it down, but it's 100% until then.

If there ever was a team to take in the suicide pool then the Hawks are it. I too wouldn't be surprised for us not to cover since we have two long road trips after this game and will want to rest up. I say go up by 25 points by the middle of the third and then put it on cruise control. Backups galore.

Not sure why the hawks would hold back. It doesn't seem like great playing comes from a spigot that you can turn on and off. Hope they smash the Jags as expected.

this... and our offense hasnt turned on the spigot yet. i'd like to see them run ragged. I imagine Carrol (and Wilson) feel the same

It really should be noted that Jacksonville had to travel to Oakland on Sunday, then has to fly all the way back to Seattle for this weekend.

I thought they didn't do stuff like that to East Coast teams? That is a pretty jacked-up schedule for a 2 week period, if you ask me. I know the time difference works in their favor, but that's a lot of travel.

I thought this at first as well but:

1. Pete preaches competition and playing hard. I don't think he's going to stop that mantra because Bradley is on the other sidelines. It's a business.

2. in football, if you don't play full out, you get hurt because the other guy will be. You have to go hard. Our ultra competitive guys like Wilson, Sherman, et al have too much pride to play down to competition and let their reptuations and stats be hurt by lessor competition.

3. Our pass rush did surprisingly well agains the Niners, who have a vastly superior OL to Jacksonville, and Kaepernick is a much better QB and far more mobile than Gabbert. Gabbert has been known to get shell shocked as well, the environment and DL pressure will do that. DLmen love their sacks. They'll be licking their chops. this is also the perfect game to start working clem in

4. Think the 12th man will take the day off if we're doing well ? See above.

I see this as being closer as by midway through the 3rd quarter we put all the reserves in. Even then, our defense takes pride in being the #1 scoring defense and they're deep. I don't see the Jags scoring much on our 2nd stringers.

They actually opted to stay on the west coast all week after the Oakland game. They are practicing in northern California. So, it won't be back-to-back cross-country trips.

Too many wrinkles to iron out, so anything less than playing their best, in preparation for the rest of the schedule would be stupid on Carrol and the Seahawks.
Yes, the Seahawks are expected to win, but the Jags will want to make them earn it too, and remember, Pete knows what it feels like to be in a re-build phase, and he also knows that the Jags will be inspired by their Coaches, to make this a true competition, and remember, some of those guys are playing to stay on the Jag's roster through the rebuilding process in the next few Years, or make a good enough showing to be picked up by another team that's constantly looking for players to upgrade their rosters, just sayin'

I'm thinking 35-3. Pete takes his foot off the gas at start of 4th quarter, and plays the reserves.

Are you kidding? They had better not treat this game vanilla. This is a chance for a faltering offense to work on making significant improvements.

I look on this game like a D-1 college team playing a game against a D-3 'Our Sisters of Perpetual Slaughter' team. Run your offense and run it with precision and work out the kinks that have been plaguing you, sot that when the next good team is played, you are ready to go out and play with excellence.

100% correct. Too many issues to iron out to change the game plan. Wilson needs to get in a groove and this team is just what the DR ordered.

The defense has more statements to make. Shutouts are hard to come by. The '85 Bears shut out two teams in the regular season (two more in the playoffs). That's four shutouts total.
The 2000 Ravens shut out 4 teams in the regular season.

Historically good defenses don't let really bad teams score on them. Jax is about the worst team offensively the Hawks will face all year. If they don't shut them out, it speaks volumes about their professionalism and ability to focus.

I think that there's no way Jacksonville scores without it being on special teams or turnover. They shouldn't.

Lol @ the thought of Pete ever letting up in any circumstance

Jaguars are going to get the business this weekend, the defense isn't going to be vanilla at all, offensively we're gonna shove this rock down their throats and kill 'em with the passing game.

If anything it'll be a mercy killing by the middle of the second quarter.
