Anglo-Paxton made decisive decisions, smart decisions, all night. That's such a fantastic sign. And a sign that translates vs better competition.

Yeah, the things Lynch did well dont change with competition level.

The only thing that will change is presnap reads. Not sure where the young punk is there.

Dude also stood tall and made throws vs a free blitzer. The right read and throw too. He didn't take the wrong read once.

And Geno, who I was excited for, is still the same slow to process guy he was in NY. His lack of decisiveness or awareness is exactly is staggering.

Agreed. He was quick to make them, no hesitation. When he pulled it down, he didn't give any time for the defense to react and the release? Excellent. It reminded me of RW in Chicago 2012. I think he will get critiqued for running too early but he really wasn't, he just saw the breakdown coming and took off.

I didn't realize the dude had wheels either. We'll see what he looks like against a defense with some starters in it at some point.

Oh.. the guy was money on the accuracy from what i saw.

My favorite play was a quick throwaway out of bounds.

Smith needed some of those.

Well I think all agree on who won last nights battle, I want to see if Lynch can keep it up against a team he doesn't have an Axe to grind with. He was pretty all about payback last night to Elway and even stated that the Seahawks environment is better and more like a family then the one in Denver.

Last good back up? Matt Hasselbeck for Dilfer.

Good backups:
Aaron Rogers -> Matt Flynn
Jim Kelly -> Frank Reich
whatever stiff -> Doug Flutie
Billy Kilmer -> Sonny Jurgenson (or vice-versa)
Bob Griese -> Earl Morrall

Matt Flynn had some nice games filling in for an injured Aaron Rogers in GB in 2010, 2011, and 2013.
QB rating 124 in 2011.

The part that concerns me is PLynch badmouthing Denver in any way, shape, or form.
Truth is no defense on this one. This is the biggest PLynch red flag so far.

The attitude *I* would want from an NFL QB with the emotional maturity to lead an NFL team, is one of gratitude to Denver for giving him the opportunity (and all the CA$H) in the first place) and the investment in his development.

Without seeing and hearing the actual quote in context, it's pretty much a nothingburger though.
The reason this attitude would be a huge red flag, if accurate, is that it would show that PLynch was not accepting full, personal responsibility for, and owning, his own failures, and taking personal responsibility and initiative to improve.

I suspect the objective reality is that the Pete Carroll Seahawks approach does in fact provide a more supportive, development-oriented environment for young QBs than what Denver had. Pete understands and accommodates the emotional needs of young players perhaps better than any other coach in the league, and has it baked into the Seahawks environment. So young Paxton was probably just expressing his enthusiasm for a new environment, in a way that young people are known to do, without stopping to think that he was putting down his old team, to whom he owes a great debt, in the process.

So I'll give PLynch a pass on this one, and expect that Pete and assistants, and Russell, will be providing him some coaching on media relations, and how to better conduct himself in interviews.

He did acknowledge that Denver gave him a chance and thanked them, just said ours was a more family feeling place to be.

You also have to remember that Denver has been trying to replace Elway since Elway retired and things at the QB position there have been a bit rocky other then the insertion of Manning there as a place holder for who? Lynch or it may have been Oswieler, they have cycled thru a lot of QB's there with little patience and little support around them since Manning.

In the post game interview, Lynch was pretty nice to the Donkeys and said they were just having some good natured fun. I mean, no punches were thrown.

I must have shut off the TV before the Paxton Lynch postgame interview.

Good points about the Donkeys QB meat grinder of the last 5+ years.

Now THAT was a happy problem for a coach to have! Which HOF QB shall I start this week?
I failed to list it because I forgot Steve Young was ever a backup!

IMO Lynch was not motivated by a "get even" factor. It's only a preseason game and no one cares about the outcome. It's all about player evaluation. But he could have benefitted by a knowledge of Denver's defense.

The Smith/Lynch battle isn't over. Next week after Russell plays in the first series or two, we'll probably see Lynch in the first half, Smith in the 2nd so they can play with and against different personnel groupings. I can remember the Wilson-Flynn battle in 2012 and the knock on Russell being that he was playing against inferior competition because Flynn was getting the start and thus playing against the opponent's starters.

I would expect that the backup battle will continue through the last preseason game.

For what RW is getting paid we don't need a backup.
He can play on one leg with a dead arm and we still
can win.

What's scary is that some really think that Wilson is superman.
Pretty much is.
