I think that the general consensus with many fans ; is that Wilson is so steady and sturdy and seemingly bullet proof ; and under contract for several more years ; why worry about a having a good backup QB...probably will never play ever as long as they have Wilson.
QB Alex Smith just took off his leg brace after breaking it last Nov. He is expected to miss the entire 2019 season and may never play again . S**T happens.

That's not it at all. You just haven't said what part of the team you are willing to make worse in order to make our backup QB spot better. We'd all love to have the best players at every spot on the roster if we were living in fantasy land.

I don't think they have to give up a damn thing to draft a good QB prospect in this next draft . They have 11 picks.? Use 1 on a QB prospect in the 3-6 rounds on a cheap rookie contract . problem solved...maybe :0190l:

Alex McGough could turn out to be the next Kurt Warner... ya just never know.
Warner didn't set the league on fire right out of college. He paid his dues in Arena football and NFL Europe.
Dave Krieg is also a how-the-heck-did-that-happen QB story, never mind Jim Zorn.

Anyone else remember Gary Kubiak as John Elway's backup? Kubiak beat the Seahawks like a drum when he was under center! Then he'd quietly go back to being Elway's backup.
I think the 'Hawks wanted to keep McGough around to develop, but couldn't manage it, and he got poached by the Jaguars. If I've got that story wrong, someone please fill in the more accurate version.

Alex didn't sign his contract because he got greedy.

The tenth member of the practice squad, and the lone member not to sign a future contract was 2018 seventh round draft pick, quarterback Alex McGough.

Fant is supposed to be the Heir Apparent at LT (even though Duane looks like he's 5 years younger this season) so I don't see PCJS dangling him or getting "Cute" =) Anyone know why McGough wasn't on the futures deals for Seattle?

Not certain, but McGough was reportedly paid significantly more than minimum to be on the PS because another team wamted him.
I won't be surprised if he signs elsewhere in the coming days.

I won’t waste time pointing out that the dots were not difficult to connect in this situation, and on Tuesday we finally learned why McGough was not on the list of Seahawks practice squad players set to return in 2019.

Geno will be great

AS A BACKUP

Not as a starter, but as a backup

4 years with the Jets should tell you how great he is . The Hawks got him on a one year deal . He will be gone by next season . They will be looking for a backup again by then .

I quite liked McGough. Had a sneaky good arm and a clumsy athleticism.

I liked him too . 6'3" and a strong arm . 7th round cheap keep . Dunno why the Hawks let him go. They would of had a home grown backup this season . IMO

Which brings up the direct point of injuries to Wilson. He took a 51 sack beat down last season . How long can that go on ? Wilson is not invincible ; contrary to the children that think so . IMO As it stands at this point ; if Wilson misses just a game or two ; the Hawks can forget winning the division and most likely no post season at all .

At least you have an opinion even if it comes from the bottom of a garbage pile
:2thumbs:

Wow...thanks for you're brilliant input on the topic . You obviously gave it a lot of thought .

About the same as you calling people children if they think different then you. I figured it was a child I was reading so responded accordingly.

I'm rubber and you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.

For what RW is getting paid we don't need a backup.
He can play on one leg with a dead arm and we still
can win.

What's scary is that some really think that Wilson is superman.
He has won with one leg.(More than once)
The dead arm..Maybe in baseball
Oh and I liked Mcgoo too.

It's a good thing we don't require our back-up to engage in boxing matches, otherwise we could quickly rule-out Geno and his glass jaw.

It's just one game but I thought Geno Smith looked like he has always looked, not very good. It was only the 1st game and Lynch was playing against lesser opponents but he looked very good. We'll see how it plays out but after tonight it doesn't look like Geno has the spot locked up like had been talked about.

Lynch looked like he had command of the huddle and the players were in sync, Smith not so much.

Anglo-Paxton made decisive decisions, smart decisions, all night. That's such a fantastic sign. And a sign that translates vs better competition.
