I'd love to see us trade one of our 2nd round picks for Slay.

I know some fans think Flowers will improve, but I've seen enough after two years to want a serious upgrade at that position, and Slay is still one of the top 4-5 corners in the league, and will be for at least another 2-3 years.

He's best friends with Diggs, and IMO he'd fit in great, and I'm just fine with giving him a big CB contract, especially if we're not going to re-sign Clowney or use cap to sign one of the top D-line FA's.

Bottom line, if we're going to spend the next 2-3 years trying to rebuild the D-line, we need an elite CB, and Flowers ain't it. We saw in the playoffs what happens when you go up against a good QB, he's going to pick on Flowers.

Good post! I think that would be a good move. Don't know how or if Flowers can play slot. Slay would make my day. Having corners that can cover make a pass rush a little better. I wouldn't mind going that rout at all.

I like the idea of getting Slay or Harris. Then maybe tey Flowers back @ safety, where he played his college ball?

All the reports on Twitter that I saw said 2nd or 3rd rounder, not multiple 1st's.
Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Lions have spoken to "multiple teams" about a potential trade for CB Darius Slay.
Detroit previously shopped Slay during October's trade deadline but was on record of seeking compensation similar to what the Rams gave up for CB Jalen Ramsey (two first-round picks and a subsequent fourth).

Who's saying a 2nd or 3rd on twitter? Because that would make more sense.

A box of onions for both.......straight up
Yellow only. Would never get Walla Walla sweets for those two.

IF we're gonna stink the place up might as well go with a bo of garlic. Gawd I hate the smell of too much garlic!

I saw Harris his entire college career. He'd make a good teammate with McDougald (both Kansas guys). But he's getting too old to spend that kind of money on. If we're going to buy a corner lets get one we can depend on for awhile AND can afford without breaking the back. That means draft time for a must-have need.

I also agree with whoever said we need to draft a top shelf RB, and Ivotuk has posted some great suggestions on the draft board.

To answer the question posed by the OP...probably yes. Pete and John have shown a willingness over and over again to do whatever it takes to field the best team possible. A few tweaks here and there and this team can contend for the Lombardi. I would put the likelihood at somewhere between 50% and 75% that a big trade will happen. I don’t count the inevitable draft day trades that will result in additional picks but look for the acquisition of needed player or players. If and when it happens, it will come between draft day and the start of the season.

The multiple first rounders was last year, when the Lions had more leverage because Slay still had two years on his contract.

Now he has all the leverage, so if they want to trade him they're going to have to lower their asking price........and if they didn't get multiple first rounders last year? They're sure as hell not going to get that this year.

No leverage with impending holdout = take the 2nd, or 2nd and 3rd and move on.
