I agree, it would be epic to play the series at Safeco. I do like that they do a 3 game series instead of just 1 game. It was lame having a playoff of a 162 game season decided by 1 game. Lot of ball left, of course, but they're playing out of their minds these days. The kind of ball we haven't seen in Seattle in 20 years.

I just saw what you're talking about! ESPN.com has a 99.5% chance of the Mariners making the playoffs. I think that's absolute madness but it really might be the year!

Yeah, I just heard it on Brock & Salk or somewhere. Good times.

Meh, I love our chances at home. Playoffs will be a totally different vibe. Just get in the tourney and see how it rolls.
Positive vibe for the win. Any team, any time, any place, bring it on. I guarantee this team isn't afraid of ANYONE. Period

Whoever said that should be fired! We do have a 5 game cushion, but this is the Seattle Mariners we're talking about! I won't believe it until it's done! Also I want more! Get the 1st WC so we can play at home!
God.... I hate you on all levels on both sports

Well, you are ridiculously negative Welshers, so there is that. Why can't you just ENJOY the ride? Honest question.

What a weird playoff scenario. Get first WC, we get home games against either Toronto or Tampa. If we win that, then we have to go to Houston.

If we get the lowest WC, we get a better matchup against whoever wins the central. If we win that, then we get to play the struggling Yankees.

Obviously I want a home playoff series, but I wouldn’t be upset if we get the last WC seed.

Exactly. Getting "penalized" for finishing slightly better than the other two would suck. Finishing with the worst record of the three could conceivably mean going to the WS!

Imagine in the final series of the season, Ms find themselves having at least partial control over whether they finish first, second, or third in the WC standings and "oops," lose a couple of games in order to finish third and get the easier path to the WS. Partial control, as it could potentially be subject to the other teams also jockeying for WC positioning and whether they win/lose.

Now, I get the "They should just try to win every game regardless" sentiment, and I realize making the playoffs at all after the long 20-year drought would be a huge accomplishment in of itself. And I suppose some might say "But they're now good enough to beat Toronto/Tampa and then Houston." (Tampa and Houston would be tough, so I don't know.) The possibility of Ms finding themselves in control, or partial control, of exactly where in the WC standings they finish is just entertaining to think about, is all.

So, did we pick up a full game on the Rays? Helluva win against the Champs!
We’re are pretty much tied, we’ve had played one more game. But Shannon was on the radio saying the Rays have the head to head tie breaker against us so in the end we need to be one game better (have less losses).

That was a HUGE series win. But remember, the M's are "mediocre" and are a ".500 team" and Julio has "proven nothing"
