Was thiniking about this and the personalities involved and Sherman and Shawn Springs have a lot of simularities in how they bring their game on game day.

Here's the question regardless of where they were picked.

Who's better Sherman or Springs in his prime.

considering sherman isn't even in his prime yet it doesn't seem fair to compare him to springs in his prime.

I will say that Sherman looks like he could be the best CB in the league for years, I don't think you could have ever made that argument for Springs. I'm not sure if that speaks more for Sherman's talent, or the other CB's in the league when Springs was playing well. Sherman is also much more limited with all the rules that help offense.

OK I guess I've talked myself into it. Sherman > Springs.

...but, seriously. Springs was never anything near a shutdown corner-not in his best season.

I always have a hard time comparing a player with a season or two sample to a past player with an entire career sample.... Springs was never the the most dominate in the league, Sherman may actually become the best at his position in the league... if he's not already there.

I saw both of them play from their first year as a Seahawk. Even have Shawn Springs' autographed rookie card - met him at the Pro Bowl his rookie year when he went to play beach football with other good rookies.

That said, Sherman is hands-down better. Springs was very good. Not quite elite. Sherman is elite. Sherman is a shutdown corner.

Springs was the better athlete, he was a ridiculous athlete, but he couldn't cover like Sherman, or didn't want to. For me, Springs didn't have the heart to be great, we know Sherman does.

Damn 2k, I think you basically summed up what makes Pete such a good coach, it's not so much Compete as it is Dare to be great, Russell Wilson is the epitomy of that mantra.

As far as the comparison, put that way I can't argue, I'm thinking Owens and the Sharpie incident then and if someone tried to pull that now as a good example. Springs thought it was funny, I don't think Sherman would let it slide nor anyone else back there.
