Someone beat me to it but his advanced metrics were actually pretty solid. I think he takes a massive leap this year
18 ppg with himBecause there is no evidence that he is beyond average at this point
And yeah double team is not evidence of greatness
Yeah, where would we have been without those 12 snaps he took against the Skylar Thompson led Dolphins or those three snaps against the Rams backups? You know who we played in the three games he took the most snaps? Bills, Packers, and the first Rams game: L, L, L.18 ppg with him
35 ppg without him
Seems kinda like evidence to me
Nope meaningless18 ppg with him

Here is the thing.Nope meaningless
That’s like saying a guy is great because his team made the playoffs. What plays did he make ?

Murphy is not a NT, which is where he was most of the time. In MM’s scheme go back to Baltimore where he had a large 340 Lb guy to clog the middle. That’s not Murphy.Murphy is not out of position. I truly feel like Mac is using him the way he should be used. A true Swiss army knife on the D line.
Facts! We were 10-4 and we gave up 18.6 ppg when he played, we were 0-3 without him and gave up 35.6 ppg.
I'd call that an impact. Also, before anyone starts asking about quality of the competition, one of those 3 losses were to the Giants.
Not that’s some funny shit right there!I'm worried about Eddie Murphy. Dude hasnt made a solid movie in what feels like decades.
Based on what though? Fans' perception of what a NT is? I'll keep making this case. Michael Pierce was a dynamic DT in 2023 that happened to play Nose and was over 340 lbs. NT was his title but he provided versatility and some pass rush abilities. He wasn't just a 0-tech that played limited snaps. He played a bunch in their 2-4-5 alignment. Most games, he played over 50% of the snaps. True NTs don't do that...Murphy is not a NT, which is where he was most of the time. In MM’s scheme go back to Baltimore where he had a large 340 Lb guy to clog the middle. That’s not Murphy.
If you look at Baltimore, Murphy is more the Madubuike type. Murphy mostly was playing NT out of necessity and to get his best guys on the field but Murphy is more of a DE than a NT in this D.
Didn’t say he does not have a role or not contributingHere is the thing.
This post has so many holes in it. Dude has played 1 season with good advanced stats and not so good traditional stats.
For me it's simple. Murphy can do what little on this team can. He offers a real Swiss army knife on the line. He helps everyone else do their jobs.
He has a role and established that by his rookie season. That's good. Real good.
Sorry if fans can't see the impact. Not every pick is going to have shiny production. Can they have impact though? If so then it's successful to me.
Didn’t say he does not have a role or not contributing
Just saying he hasn’t stood out as the 2nd highest defensive player picked in the draft
People get so defensive
Yeah, only a real fan would give a player full team credit for games where they barely played. You've made it clear you aren't a huge fan.
Noted
