We started with 6 WR's the last few years.
I say we will have 6 again, I think this is the most talent we've had at that position and I think they'll want to save guys from being poached. We usually can get away with just 3 TE's.

I'm thinking 3 TEs is a maybe. Depends on how they consider Fant.

Fant will undoubtedly continue to be listed as an OL.
Yes, but he has solidified a place as the 6th OL/TE, so he makes an additional blocking TE redundant.

Last I heard, the coaches were planning to continue his role that way.

Agreed. But in terms of roster makeup, he would be counted as a tackle.

If that's the case we o lo keep 3 TEs.

If they decide to pick up a vet, Crabtree and Kelvin Benjamin are still free agents. Now that Sherman is a 49er, I'd like to see the Seahawks pick up Crabtree and see Michael get revenge for the tip. That would be wicked.

Given our history with old vet WRs, I'd say no to either.

Without seeing anyone actually, you know, PLAY yet, I think I'll wait a few weeks to answer this question. There are really only two that are assured of a spot: Lockett and Metcalf. Locket because of his past success and Metcalf because of his draft position.

A little too early for me with this question.

I need to see some pre-season games to get a handle on receivers, too many new faces. But if I had to guess who makes the roster.

Lockett
Metcalf
Brown
Moore
Jennings

The rest will be fighting for maybe one more roster and a couple practice squad spots.

That's an interesting group. Lock and Jennings in the slot.

From the tape I've seen of the past two days, Metcalf looks great......but Jennings REALLY popped. He's tall, over 200 lbs and quick as hell.

I really think he's going to be the sleeper surprise of the draft.

Jennings and Christmas were my least favorite picks at the time.

But after watching the Russ summer campnvids, Jennings cuts are razor sharp. He could be sneaky fun.

Few thoughts about Russ's camp video:

1. No Lockett? Didn't see him in the two videos.
2. Ursua was quite featured and made effort to built chemistry with Russ, he was somewhat Baldwin-ish.
3. Penny was there, so was Mr. Glass but both didn't get much coverage in videos.
4. Metcalf was also featured and he looked like making efforts to learn the system.
5. I like Jennings, hoping he could be our next slot WR. With his size, he could be a difference maker.

I think Pete's going to be REALLY careful with Lockett this pre-season, and manage his snaps minimally.

With this thin and inexperienced of a WR corp, we can't have Lockett go down. He'll get his snaps in, but I betcha we barely see him for even one series for the pre-season games, and minimally in camp as Pete and Schotty try to get all these new WR's up to speed.

Lockett is the known commodity, he knows the offense, conditioning and catching drills are what he needs more then anything. The rest are in a dog fight and need to learn the system and get their reps to show what they can do. Remember cut downs are at the end of training camp now no layered cuts. This will give guys dinged and slower learners a chance for all of camp to step it up and Lockett being known is not necessary early, last couple weeks he will see more practice and game time to get timing down more with Wilson.

Jennings has an instant advantage of being a family friend of Russ'. That's going to mean Russ will take him under his wing and work hard to help him out. Instant chemistry. And the kid is quick in and out of his cuts. I think he makes it.

I think Ursua has potential but if he looks too good for PS, I'd have the backup QB throw up a murderball for him in the last preseason game and get him on IR. I kid, but seriously hope for a minor injury to him to avoid the Patriots grabbing him as an instant Edelmen replacement.

Darboh and Prosise are gone.

Locks are Lockett, Metcalf and no one else. The bubble is large and includes Moore, Brown, Jennings, Ursua, Darboh, Turner, Reynolds, Ferguson. 8 guys for 3-4 slots. Let the games begin.

(On Jaron Brown’s opportunity to become a go to guy in the Offense) “He’s been underutilized, probably a place he’s been, we were probably guilty of it last year just because we trust him so much. You see the confidence Russ has with him, there’s not a guy out there that I trust more than Jaron to do anything. To run a route, to block, we put him in protection roles, not a lot of guys do that. So selfless, so all about the team, great teammate, really good player that we expect big things from this year.”

(On potential of Jaron Brown being at his best) “Again, he’s a starting receiver in this league, he’s got starting skills, he’s a playmaker. Stepped up last year and did all kinds of things for us so I don’t think there’s anything he can’t do, ---- OC BRIAN SCHOTTENHEIMER July 26, 2019

At the moment and barring injury, Jaron Brown sure sounds like a 2019 starter. Although, David Moore had more snaps in 2018. This will be an Interesting competition this year.
