Not sure how Aaron Rodgers is the top player. He's a great QB but you could easily edge him out of the top 5.

Of all things to rip about that piece and he chose that. I'm hoping he forgot the sarcasm thingy.

Man I think these guys are losing it at CBS. I opened up a bunch of links of other lists and articles and the points they make are hilarious! I said "wtf?" a lot.

For example:
Jason LaCanfora:
"trade back into the first round to take receiver Cordarelle Patterson, who might never pick up the pro game and likely could have been had in the second round."

That's not outrageous. He went 29th overall. St. Louis, Dallas and Baltimore were not likely to take him. That'd put him in the second round. Minnesota traded 4 picks (their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th) to move up to take a guy they passed on twice.

I'd wager that either Jacksonville at the top of round 2, or San Francisco (who traded the 34th pick for less) would have been willing to make a deal to get Patterson in the 2nd round.

In this case, I'd agree with LaCanfora. Minnesota paid a premium to take him.

So you're saying that St Louis wasn't WR needy, Dallas would have passed and Baltimore would have passed AND, no one would have traded up to get Patterson. I disagree, Mike Mayock said watching Cordarelle Patterson was "jaw dropping." Not sure why you also chose to argue a point that I did NOT highlight, but there are some that think Minnesota did okay in that trade. They basically traded a 2nd, 3rd and 4th which means they used a 2nd on Patterson but threw in a 3rd and 4th to make sure to get him. 3rd and 4th round picks for the most part are "okay," but do not historically perform well outside of Seattle.

I'm not saying he isn't top 5, I'm just saying based on last season its easy to edge him out of it and that I don't think hes the consensus #1 overall player.

In no particular order

Watt
Megatron
Peterson
Brady
I would even put Atkins in here because he's so amazing but I know that'll get everyone POd so manning works too.

Again, not saying Rodgers isn't a great player, just that I don't see him as the #1 and think you could argue him out of the top 5.

Before the Super Bowl, Prisco's biggest concern with Kaep was that he needed to see another season in order to recognize him as a legit starter.

I think all 4: Luck, Kaep, Wilson, and RGIII are all undervalued...

I mean, it's laughable that Patrick Peterson is better then all of them. Crabtree crushes him... And Muhammad Wilkerson, Evan Mathis... please

I think these 4 guys will eventually replace Brady, Peyton, and Brees as the elite QBs. Obviously, you guys will put Wilson at the top, but to me all 4 guys are interchangeable. RGIII has the biggest ? with his health.

Huh? I think Wilson will prove to be the much better QB in the future but at this point its debatable.

Please try not to be such a homer

I agree, its not like they're multiple space apart either, they're right next to each other. Both are above RGIII too

1) he put qb's that only have one year in the resume together in the 80s making the point that one season doesn't prove it in the NFL. To me while I disagree it is a fair point

2) Sherman 9 and Revis 35 - why isn't anyone picking up on the huge difference here and how that is some serious respect

3) Morris. I don't know if he is good or not. I know that this is not the first running back inserted in a Shannan system that ends up looking like an all-star. Sure he gets good FA money and sucks it up somewhere else....

How so?

They are all close enough to where it doesn't matter. (RGIII, Luck, Kaep and Wilson).

They will all have plenty of opportunity to prove themselves (well maybe not RGIII).

Well, I can't argue with the whole "young guys (QBs) need another year to prove it" mentality, but it's inconsistent to then place Alfred Morris that far ahead of Marshawn Lynch, after he only played 1 year.

I also have a hard time seeing Eric Weddle as 27 positions better than Earl Thomas. Weddle is a damn good safety, but he's not in Thomas's league.

I also feel Okung should be ranked ahead of some of those other OLmen, but that's subjective as I haven't scouted guys like Yanda all that much.

As for the whole Kaepernick vs. Wilson thing: yea, Wilson is ahead of Kaep as of right now, and with his intangibles I'd say he stays there, but no one really knows what Kaepernick's ceiling is. None of us can say with any certainty whether he "gets it" or not, so all these absolute comments about him never being better than Wilson are homeristic.

Kaep's celing could be higher, given his size and athleticism. I personally don't think so, but I don't discount Kaep at all.

Disagree. Wilson is clearly the better QB. Kaep benefits from a coach that made Alex Smith look like an MVP. And speaking of athleticism, while people continue to focus on height, which is not as important as people think, what keeps being overlooked is hand size, which is closely correlated to and less obvious than height--thus confusing the issue--but more important. Wilson's hands are much bigger than Kaep's. From the behind angle, you could see how the ball slipped out of Kaep's hands and sailed on him for that INT in the SB.

Other NFL players agree, as they voted Wilson at least 30 slots higher than Kaep (although I don't think his specific position has been released yet, Kaep's has, and it has been confirmed that Wilson is on the list).

Please try not to overcompensate in your zeal to signal that you're not a homer. ;)

Please humor me... how is he CLEARLY better? Both have very similar QB ratings, QBR, Yd/attempt. Both are running threats, have great arms, and seem to be franchise QBs.

Wilson
Season / Postseason:
QB Rating: 100.0, 102.4
QBR: 69.6, 69.6
Yd/Att: 7.93, 9.23
TD/INT Ratio: 2.6, 3

Kaepernick
Season / Postseason:
QB Rating: 97.9, 100.9
QBR: 76.9, 76.8
Yd/Att: 8.29, 9.98
TD/INT Ratio: 3.33, 2

I see two very similar QBs. It's very interesting that both guys almost had identical QB ratings and QBR between season and postseason.

Things I see Wilson does better than Kaep:

-Escapability, Touch Passes

Things I see that both guys do about the same:

-Long-ball accuracy, short/mid-accuracy, decision-making, strength

Things I see Kaep does better than Wilson:

-Speed, Arm-Strength

Ah i see, so just to make sure i got this straight... Seahawk fans on Niner message boards are "Trolls"

yet Niner fans on Seahawk boards are simply apposing fans?

You try so hard to be PC over here, yet you always slip up and show your true colors... It's all good though. Carry on.

In reference to the list.. i think it's pure garbage, and one man's opinion, nothing else...

Most of us don't bother we hear enough 49er diatribe here to last a lifetime. Why go subject ourselves to the "five rings" speech anymore than we are already forced to endure. :49ersmall:

I speak only for myself, but hawker84 (which I assume is the same handle in the Webzone), you have added great banter in the Webzone. I hope I can be a "good opposing fan" without becoming a troll.

But there are trolls for each team fan base, unfortunately.
