Ok...need to start getting out of the quarantine funk.

We have wasted 5 years (with only 1 trophy) and only have roughly 6-8 seasons left.

We are at halftime of our QB career.

Positive thinking and better defensive scheming gets us to Tampa in Feb.

Even with the thrown together team last year we beat SF at their building and could have easily beaten them at C-Link...and then who knows if we played them in NFCC.

Let's do this.

The time is now...

I see at least one more ring on Russ' finger before he retires as a Seahawk. It WILL happen. Next year, this year, two years from now, five years from now, who knows?

But. It. Will. Happen.

The defense has got to get better . That's out of Wilson's hands. That's why he is almost begging Clowney to come back .

The NFL playoffs are too random to support this kind of view. Single elimination games in a sport with really good parity and very close outcomes. Go back through any year and you'd get half a dozen different champions if you reran the year half a dozen times.

The main thing teams can do is win the division to ensure a home playoff game. Of course that depends a lot on the strength of the division. The Hawks have clearly been the best of the NFC West since realignment, but some years have been tougher than others. I have it as the best division this year which should lead to fun games but also lowers our Superbowl odds a lot.

I can see Russ with at least 1 more SB ring. A third is possible but too many things have to go right for the Seahawks in a very tough NFC. We will need a few teams to "fall down" or "stumble" in the upcoming seasons for Russ to get more than 2 rings.

The closest to this is the Saints.

They got very close. They would have likely gotten another ring, but for the NFL screwing them in order to send the Rams to the SB.

But what happened to Green Bay and the Steelers are probably more likely. You end up very good for a long time, generally at least a threat in the playoffs (except when your QB is injured...) but not really getting another ring.

It is very difficult to be competitive with highly paid QB taking up such a huge % of the cap that you are tremendously thin in other areas. You have very little margin for error.

Possible and it would be great to see, because Wilson can certainly carry a team if he has to. But it isn't likely.

(First, we have to get better at beating teams in the playoffs when it isn't a wildcard game.)

It would be great to see Aros be right on this though.

we still need to solve the slow start thing, which we can with a minor tweak to our offensive philosophy. We do that and with just a little improvement on defense, and we can win another SB quickly. We dont, and we need to wait till we get another historic defense.

would not have solved the slows start as we were doing that even before the injuries.

You mean the team that was quite possibly the most stacked team of the 2010s? You mean the team the best defense of the decade and is now mentioned as an all-time great defense? You mean the team that had most of its key players in rookie contracts -- including Russell Wilson?

You do realize we won in spite of those slow starts, right?

We are NEVER going to have a team like that again. That was the perfect storm of circumstances that allowed that team to exist. Slow starts have cost us just about every playoff game we've lost since 2015. Stop pretending like it is not an issue, it has been a huge issue, especially in post season with some stacked teams.

We're not talking about sinking a crumpled paper ball into the trash can from three feet away here. You don't win a Super Bowl "in spite" of a crippling deficiency. While I too would like to see fewer slow starts, they obviously aren't the show-stopper being depicted here or we wouldn't have had the conference's best playoff record in the last decade.

The defense's needs are greater.

Almost every loss we have had a slow start was part of the reason and a thing can be easily fixed.

The slow starts will never get fixed as long as Pete is the coach. He just will not fix it and its a playoff killer.

It has significantly improved over the last two seasons. We discussed this a bit last season; if you go look at 2017 and 2016 it was way worse. The offense was good enough to win a Super Bowl last year before all the running backs broke.

When you're giving up nearly 25 PPG it doesn't matter what the offense is doing. Even with some high flying Chiefs offense, they got beat up when it mattered. This last year they had a good enough defense to stop other teams from scoring enough. The previous year they gave up over 26 PPG, while the offense was putting up 35.

You can score fast and you can score a lot. But if your defense can't stop, or even slow down, good offenses you're going to get beat by the team with the good offense and good defense in the playoffs. Unless you get 2011 Giants kind of luck.

This defense has to get better or concerns about how fast the team scores are moot.

all true but it is not a simple fix the defense and that is it. .When you dig a hole it is hard to get out of it. we need to start faster and improve the defense. The improvment in slow starts is not much in fact according to scoring stats by Qtr it is 1 point which again is not much.

We need to improve our defense as well as start faster.
