Cowherd has backed Darnold for years and took a lot of flack/mocking for it so I don't mind this victory lap from him. There's plenty of other takes you can hammer him on such as after the Wilson trade, needing an offensive HC etc. I have a feeling Wilsons agent was feeding him stuff. There's certain guys he seems to get info on and talks a lot about- Burrow, Sean Payton, Mayfield and someone at the USC program, at one time Russell Wilson.

It's refreshing to have a QB that doesn't talk like a walking clique (Wilson) or is flat out deluded at times (Geno). Love how he holds himself accountable, even talks about how there was a few specific passes in the super bowl he would like back, doesn't throw shade when he probably could.
Nice post

Refreshing!!!! That’s the word! That’s how I feel about this whole Super Bowl and Sam, like pinching myself while I run through a field of daisies with the breezy wind in my hair frolicking with deer and butterflies

Cowherd is an idiot

Like @cymatica said.

He’s actually not an idiot, he does exactly what it takes to remain relevant.

In this day and age, with what the media and internet have become all it takes is a bold statement.

Typically you’re going to get a 51/49 split that sparks an argument or controversy.

It’s actually brilliant in that he makes a really good living off of it.

I don’t care to listen to him much, but I refuse to fault him for what he’s doing.

I work 10x harder for a fraction of what he’s earning.

Who’s the idiot, you, me, or him?

I’m not talking about his intelligence, obviously he’s a genius. He’s getting paid to talk about sports…. He’s an idiot cause I don’t like him like I don’t like geno. That’s just like… my opinion…. man….

Cowherd intentionally has the odd, or 'other' take to generate conversation. He's extremely good at it.

He's not dumb, obviously, just a tad annoying. Often.
But he is good at getting clicks and getting people to watch him.

There are so many offseason stories out there right now as to who's the next Darnold. Quite a change in narrative from last offseason.
It really is a crazy but well-deserved shift. Way to go Sam.

Darnold has much the same disposition as Zorn, Kreig and Matt had, just guys, good guys at that. never hear about them in the news, under the radar so nobody is seeking to quote something all the time. But good players. I'll throw Kitna in as well.

I really enjoyed Matt Hassellbecks media appearances this year. He gave a lot of insight of the 2005 team and their mindset and experiences as a good contrast between their super bowl run and this teams. He was still playing in 2014 the last time we went so we never really got those perspectives from the 2005 team during the 2013/14 runs.

On top of that learning things like the team having to dig deep and battle to save Holmgrens job early in his tenure by making the play offs, some players basically phoning it in during early play off runs due to not getting paid a lot for play off games (and those players being moved on the next year- he didnt name which players), the team/Holmgren screwing up their mentality for the super bowl by under estimating Pittsburgh and thinking the job was done in the NFC championship. The contrast in styles between Holmgren, PC and MM with Holmgren giving players the hair dryer treatment at times but it coming from a place of love.

My understanding was Kreig’s competitiveness could be a pain. Not that he was a bad teammate, but would let you know when he won and you lost.

Loved the dude as our QB…just saying he’s a little different than the others in that group.

I think if there was ever a QB that played with a chip it was Kreig, Milton college that no longer exists and undrafted. Then he had to play for Knox, not knocking Ground Chuck but he was a QB's nightmare as a coach, he didn't want to depend on a QB to win.

Sam's our mannnn!

Have major mad respect for his humility and more respect still for his unquestioned ability. I had faith in him coming through when it counted this season and he was special.

Finally a true franchise QB that isn't all about ME.

OH, and it's really Gee No, thanks but no thanks.
