This is basically an average game for Russ within the confines of our regular offensive schemes

Hence the reason he didn't have an MVP vote. Always has a clunker in a season or 2.

It's like he totally forgot that 2nd and 10 or even 3rd and 10 and living to fight another day was better than drive crushing sacks. Also he can protest all he wants to the refs about DK being close etc. That grounding was a good call or at worst 50/50. It's not like him make mental mistakes like that

I argued against this comment a lot when it comes up but today I really thought there was an unwillingness to take the underneath stuff and just waiting for those deep plays to open up. The Giants were determined to take that away and the lack of adjusting to that until too late was disappointing

I don't want it to sound like pinning it all on him. The o-line lost the battle to the Giants, the play calling was suspect, drop ball etc. But that was not a good performance by Russ today.

This. This right here. Wilson and Shotty can't figure it out. Send the d-line on straight pass rush and set the safeties in two-deep zone. Arizona did it the first game. Minnesota did it. I 'think' Buffalo did it...I could not watch that game intently. Today, the Giants did it. The reliance on the 'Big' play is crippling to the success of this offense.

This is a top 10 game in how poorly he played. He literally did nothing to help the team and missed so many open throws. It happens with the best of them, but there’s no excuse for how badly he played. Goes down as one of the worst games he has played.

I forgot that horrible Green Bay game. He’s been terrible three times so far. Even though we scored a lot vs buffalo the interceptions and three and outs killed us. That 2013 game against Az was awful like the Rams game this year. He was audibling into pressure all day. You got to wonder if he’s not really smart sometimes.

Yeah, totally agree. I got a bad feeling about this game on Friday - on the Seahawks page on espn.com one of the stories was "Russell Wilson and Ciara tell each other about their first celebrity crushes" from his podcast.

:ditto: excellent post! I completely agree.

And its unacceptable that they don't have a play to counter this. Screens? Draws? Nope. Just straight drop back and let our receivers run into coverage. That lack of adjustments show a lack of gameplanning and preparation.

"The separation is in the preparation." I miss young Russ. The one that actually cared

So if teams are sitting with their safeties high, along with running the ball should there not be room to work your TE short and intermediate. We've got 2. good pass caching TEs. Wouldn't that work? Especially if you have one safety paying extra attention to DK

Wtf?!

Wilson is too damn into himself now.

The fans/media have made him a star and now he believes he is untouchable.

It’s the classic “Pablo Escobar” mentality.

“They’ll love me no matter what happens.”

And what eventually happened to Escobar?

Nice that someone has given it a name, 26 qbr vs cover 2 d blitzes. It started with the first AZ game. Opposing D coordinators just watch the film of teams that shut us down, and Schotty and Russell aren't making adjustments based on the available personnel and opponent scheme. The one TD we scored was when we finally switched it up and went up-tempo, and completed short and intermediate routes. The Giants totally shut down our "Hero Ball" deep game, got pressure, and we didn't adjust until way too late.

Finally we have Will Dissly health in the 2nd half of a season. We did use him some, but not enough of taking what the defense was giving by Russell. Too many Hero Ball drive-killing sacks taken by Russell instead of taking what was there.

Do people really think RW cant beat a 2 deep zone with a blitz? Or that it took the NFL coaches 7 years and the Cards finally figured it out? He played like crap it happens to every QB at times.

Awesome!! The separation is in the preparation!

Very telling that how you knew you wouldn't need the :sarcasm_off: tag for other posters to "get it". That's how bad things have gotten.

I'd say his worst game was in 2014 against the Packers in the playoffs... just before the miracle comeback.

That was the first one that came to mind for me also.
