Unless if your immune system sucks or if you have open wounds. You probably shouldnt worry.

Alcohol based hand gels also kill mrsa.

Had MRSA about 5 years ago. Had to have this massive boil lanced open. It sucked. It hurt. And the nurses face when it was cut open was priceless.

MRSA is a big deal IMHO. People with open wounds and suppressed immune systems should have higher level of concern, however all people are at risk of contracting this infection. A little research will reveal how dangerous it can be. If MRSA becomes a systemic infection vs a localized one, it can be fatal. I'm not saying you should be worried, I am saying you should be aware.

Agreed. I got it in my lower leg in 2007. I was on a diving trip in Roatan, Honduras. Had a mild case of DCS and a slight brush from a coral. It must have gotten into the open cut. Didn't realize it until the flight into Houston. By the time I got there my leg was all swollen and I could barely walk. Went to the doctor when I got back to Oregon, he took a sample from my now swollen like a football knee. MRSA. Had to get some nasty antibiotics that are one of only a couple left that work for it.

I did a lot of research on it and I had no idea how many thousands of people die from it every year. Serious stuff.

Yes. Not to be taken lightly. And the run of antibiotics kill a lot of the good bacteria that we have. This, many times causes (or allows) infections like VRE.

I think the media started calling it mersa. (Or lay persons) As a general rule, medical professionals don't say that. It is M R S A.
