Peyton Manning 40 time 4.8 seconds.
Tom Brady 40 time 5.28 seconds.

Every year the prognosticators salivate over the most athletic quarterbacks. What usually happens? Injuries.....short careers.

Some of the best quarterbacks look like they don't even excersize much. Matt Hasselbeck anyone?

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

For now Sam Darnold is our superstar qb who wins superbowls. Milroe is a curiosity and cheap contract. That's all he is until pressed into duty. We won't know anything until then.
Perhaps a QB that came into the league in this century would be a better comparison.

What's the one thing that Milroe does REALLY well? Is there one?

He can cook three years and be Mr August for us, get attention if he showcases the talent that JS thinks he has and then decide.

Milroe is 23, so it’s not like his talent is going to expire this season. I’m curious though why we drafted him though. Is this JS doing the GB thing where they develop QBs for trade/profit? (Matt Flynn, Hass, kid that went to NE…). Or do they really expect him to take the QB1 spot at some point?

I agree that he needs to show something in the preseason to have any value though. As an aside has there ever been a decent QB come out of Alabama?

There has never been a QB, not one, that you couldn't put together a lowlight reel on. You can also easily put together an incredibly encouraging highlight reel on Milroe. It really boils down to the tendency of an individual's point of view.
agreed but it's the sheer volume of content that is alarming.

I was very happy to see us keep three QB's last season during a transitional, prove it year. But now that our growing pains have resulted in an unexpected Lombardi, maybe it's time to float one of our QB's for a draft day trade?

Milroe was #92 in the 3rd, Lock the 42nd pick in the 2nd round and has some successful starting experience. I realize you can't get the moon for either but I wouldn't yard sale them and think both might have value after the first 3 QB's go off the board.

It could help us having so few picks, open up a roster spot and even give Drew or Jalen a chance to compete for a starting spot and make some $. There are some teams out there trying to turn things around that might show interest in strengthening their QB room.

The Dolphins (Malik Willis) have 11 draft picks including two 1st rounders and four 3rd round picks. They surely need to go into the season with more than just Willis

The Raiders have 11 draft picks, two 1st round and three 4th rounders. They currently have only Aidan O'Connell and to soon add Mendoza. Don't know if they are going to throw him to the wolves but adding a vet with starting experience would be advisable.

One thing's for sure if no draft trade happens, Milroe's preseason play will be a hard reset on his value, good or bad.

JS wouldn't just waste a 3rd round pick on just some "guy that might do something someday". Rest assured there were countless hours of multiple people within the organization doing due diligence. Indeed, the amount of money spent in man hours alone evaluating his skills and his fit within the system MM has in mind for him and his character represents a small treasure to most of us here. When considering random peoples thoughts on a football message board, compared to what I stated above, I'll go with the process that the organization has in place when considering his value.
Of course, very rare is there the "sure thing"...however if Milroe flourishes, we'll see sooner or late. But to pass judgement on his worth or value from a distance, and without full knowledge of being inside the building is...well.....only partially informed at best.

Milroe won't get traded until year 3, if it even happens. I think MM wanted someone like Milroe that reflects what the Ravens have in Lamar to compliment his defense. It's a very natural thing for something like this to occur, and there's no "Jackson-esque" QB in this year's draft. They're not going to abandon Milroe after just 1 year regardless of what realistic trade another team could offer. It's not happening. At all.

In a couple of years? Yeah, maybe more of a chance then depending on how he learns and progresses. I think the best use for him right now is exactly where he's at: 3rd in line, on the bench learning and practicing everything he can with absolutely NO PRESSURE to throw him into the fire. If Fleury wants to use him in certain packages, then hopefully he learns from Kubiak's mistakes and puts him in better situations. But the kid is still green, give him some time.

He's getting traded right before the draft or during the draft. No spot for him, and no need for him to compete and lose when he still has trade value.
Milroe for a 5th

He is a project, and that is why he was drafted where he was and why he was not drafted by another team, at a higher position. He just needs to grow. Remember,, Even though Darnold was a high draft pick, he soon became a project. How did that turn out???

I'd like to see Luck traded during the draft and see Milroe get promoted to #2.
