Repeating it doesn’t make it any more true.

Roughly half the teams in the league carry three QBs through the season. There is little reason to think the Hawks didn’t plan for two to three years of the same.

His only real cost is the roster spot. The 2026 cap hit for all three QBs is about 11 million less than Purdy’s, and is below the top ten QB individual cap hits. (Eyeballing it)

Schneider has never yet been connected to a QB that turned out to not be a star in the league.

They didn’t just throw a dart at the board and take Milroe. They had a very good idea of what they were getting, and they had a plan that was more than, “let’s try for a year and cut/trade him if we can’t turn him into something worthwhile.”
We haven’t taken other QBs in the draft under JS?

I mean....it would've made their defense even nastier...if MacDonald was their coach but... :sneaky:

Well at least he's not in the conference, let alone the NFC West.

And at least he's not Ram or Whiner.

Wilson? But this is why I said connected, not drafted. The only (starting) QB I can think of who was connected to Schneider, and didn’t go on to have a star season or two was Matt Flynn.

Wilson, Smith and Darnold, we all know. He was also connected, pre-draft, to both Mahomes and Josh Allen. He knew when to scuttle Wilson and Smith. All of this points to quality QB evaluation, whether his or someone he listens to.

That's crosby off the table. Make sure lawrence comes back then see what comes to you market wise to replace mafe. Don't force it. Lawrence fell in our lap last year

Geno was never a star.
Two pro-bowls, comeback player of the year, Seahawks record for yards in a season and completion percentage, which was also the best completion percentage in the league that year, NFL record for 4th quarter/overtime go ahead TD passes, tied franchise record for consecutive 100+ passer rating games.

Agree to disagree, I guess

I've never been convinced that Flynn wouldn't have done well as the starter. He looked solid when he had the chance (preseason and relief appearances), and he didn't lose the battle for the starting job as much as ran into a buzzsaw and was beat out in an unusual situation. Then he screwed up his elbow and was basically finished physically. I've always thought his inclusion on free agent bust lists is absurd.

Regardless, I'm sure they've been interested in QBs who didn't work out, but if you were hot on Josh Rosen (for example), you're probably less inclined to talk about it than if you liked Mahomes. I recall them being hot on Jacoby Brissett too, who has had a respectable career. I also remember talk about Anthony Richardson, although I'm not sure if it's ever come out whether there was any real truth to that.

I think Flynn would've at-best been a Poor Man's Jimmy G.

He took Heaps and Milroe and Wilson. Not sure of a single other QB

And he DIDN'T know when to scuttle Wilson which was before his last huge Seahawk contract or Geno which would have been before he ever became a starter.

2 first round picks and have to pay the guy. Yeah naw, that rarely ever works out. Crosby isn’t Myles Garrett. Overrated
You are correct. Maybe 20% of these deals work out for the team that gave up the picks.

I could be an NFL GM for 100 years, and not once in those 100 years would I ever trade 2 1sts for a veteran who is already getting paid.
