That TJ Watt thread got me thinking about those kinds of trades where the Seahawks mortgaged some of their future for a player they felt could immediately put them in a position to compete at the highest level, or however you want to put it. Some that came to mind were...

--Jamal Adams trade (obviously)
--Percy Harvin trade
--Deion Branch trade (almost forgot about this one)
--Jimmy Graham trade

What others? And what do you think of our track record with these kinds of trades?

As I recall John and Pete were really pressing to get Lynch to get the offensive philosophy Pete wanted.

I’d say that more often these don’t work out and these are the ones people usually talk about but when they do work out they make up for those that don’t.

The Lynch trade was fantastic in terms of what we gave up of our future for it. I believe it was a 4th round pick the next draft, and maybe a fifth the following draft. I'd have to double check.

Duane Brown worked out pretty good. A 2nd and 3rd for Brown and a 5th. We also signed him to a 3yr extension iirc. Not really a go for it type though I don't think.

Sheldon Richardson maybe?

Beastmode might just be the best trade for the Hawks all-time. He was part of the heart and soul of the SB team, not sure if they get it done without him. Those YAC were pretty important without a great oline.

In 2004, the Seahawks traded a conditional 7th round pick to the Raiders for wide receiver Jerry Rice.

I can feel your blood boiling already. Let me just say, at the time, this was definitely a trade that turned some heads. And, I will die on this hill: he taught our receivers at the time how to catch, primarily Darrell Jackson.
