Not sure if anyone else is thinking the same thing, but it just appears that we so often pay more than needs to be in trades. For instance, the last three trades were a good example. They traded Mike Jackson, who was a somewhat proven veteran cornerback for an absolute nobody. Darrel Taylor for a 6th. Then today they go ahead and trade a 6th for a player that has been average at best around the league (4th team in just a few years). I know a six round pick is not a lot but it’s likely this guy would’ve gotten cut anyway. Also Just curious if anyone else feels this way on top of the disaster trade for Jamal Adams etc. PS, yes I know he killed it with the Russ trade.
I think those players are probably a dime a dozen in the league, if needed the Hawks can probably pick someone like that up without a problem. I mean, really, they are trading them for nothing and that nothing, well who knows might be a gem.

Player trades are like draft pick trades.

GMs make it known when certain draft picks are available in trade... and when certain players are available as well... so when a trade goes down, whatever the trade is... the fair market value for the pick or player involved was achieved at that point in time... by definition.

It doesn't matter what we think. It is what it is.

We think that we know better, but we actually don't.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with this. So you are saying that those of us that were very much against the Jamal Adams trade compensation didn’t have a clue on what we were talking about? Or better yet, when Russell Wilson was traded I think a lot of us thought that the compensation Seattle got for him was quite good all things considered. How did we know that and the GM of the Broncos didn’t know that? it’s not like fans don’t get to watch the same games as the GM’s. We are certainly not 100% in the know, but I think for the most part we see enough to have a qualified opinion on the matter.

That's not at all what he's talking about though.

You're talking about the value you think a player has on the field compared to their market value.

He's talking about us not having anywhere near enough info to understand the actual *market* value of a player.

Our opinion on who is and is not worth market value as a player has nothing to do with that.
