He is average AT BEST. That will not be good enough. When has he ever won a game in the clutch, EVER?

You say that as if we have something way better to take his place. Right now it's Brady Quinn who many question if he's ever won a game of any sort and Jerrod Johnson who just learned how to throw a football. (I'm sorry Jerrod I didn't mean it! I'm just bitter about Portis being dumb.)

And four times. I have 100% faith in profootball reference's accuracy.

Full Tarvaris defense mode activated!

I'm liking Quinn more and more, as I see more of him and learn more about him. He hasn't really gotten a fair shot in this league; wrong place at the wrong time guy until now. I think now it's more about TJack vs. Jerrod Johnson, and which will stick around.

I have to agree that having TJack around is an awesome insurance policy. I'm thinking Quinn would be more likely to bring us back in a game. TJack went 0-for-6 his last time here on final drives with a chance to win or tie.

I would argue there aren't 32 starting caliber QBs in the whole of the NFL.

Arguing about this backup versus that backup is meaningless. If any team's starting QB goes down for a length of time, that team nose dives out of playoff contention.

Can anyone name the backups in ATL, NO, DEN, PIT, SF, NYG off the top of your head?

Instead of hatin' we should be counting our blessings with Brady Quinn. This could've easily been the Tebow vs. Tjack thread... :stirthepot:

Matt Schaub! Drew Brees left arm! That really tall guy from ASU! Charlie Batch always! Someone Sherm will still pick on! Jared Lorenzen!

Suck it.

I'll show myself out now.

I'm convinced a lot of people never saw Quinn play once.

Take us back in a game? HAHAHAHA!

And then our boy RichNhansom rolls out a scenario where the sun did shine on the dogs ass.

Lol @ upside for veteran back ups, you are all funny.

Try Throwdown, you cement my opinion. Rather than providing examples of when that sun shined on Jackson's ass you choose to discount Quinn's. I assume you spent the night trying to find an example and came up empty handed because your response has an impressive delay.

But using your sunshine analogy you should consider that Jackson has been doing the equivalent of playing in the sun with probably twice as man in game opportunities as Quinn and still couldn't muster a single game where his performance was that good.

People keep asking how many games we would have won with Quinn starting 2011. I would ask how would Jackson look if he wasn't constantly surrounded by elite teams? Consider our record the first half of 2011 at 2-6 and he still had a top ten defense in a system he had 6 years experience and chemistry with a #1 receiver in Rice in that same system.

There is way to many examples of games won in spite of Jackson's play to ignore. You can even use the Giants game that year and see Whitehurst turning a Jackson loss into a Seahawk win. Yet for some reason some want to still give Jackson 7 or 8 wins on the season even though it should be six and ignores that the running game and defense had more to do with this six than Jackson himself.

In a system like what Quinn has played in I seriously question if Jackson would have won a single game.

T-Jack will be coming back on a non-guaranteed contract to compete for the backup QB job.

Just wanted to clarify that point, for those who seem to be under the impression that he's being given $100M guaranteed and replacing Russell Wilson.

Hahahaha well put

Seriously people, he's coming in to compete to be the backup QB. Yea, he will probably win the job, and that means the Hawks will have a quality vet by backup QB standards who is extremely tough and well respected by his peers. It's a good situation.

However, if they let Quinn stick around and he plays better than TJack, I'm sure he ends up with the gig. Don't see that happening though

I like the move. This way we get to see some of those classic Tarvaris Jackson nicknames all over again. T-Slack was my favorite, though T-Joke wasn't bad. For those that are pissed off about the move, blame our division rivals for making the move on Colt McCoy first. Amazing that two Cleveland Browns QBs were in such high demand in this division.

Some of you guys will find anything to whine about. It's a backup QB. The 49ers have Colt McCoy. The Patriots have Tim Tebow. We have Tjack or Quinn. See the trend? It's not a big deal - not having a great QB as your back applies to every team.

Why would I do that? please tell me why I would go out of my way to try and justify something about some back up QB's?

There is no room for rational posts in this thread

Redskins have a pretty good one.. but i get your point.

If Brady, Either Manning, Kap, Rothlesberger, Ryan,Flacco, and a dozen other QB's go down, those teams are screwed, blued and tattoed, you can throw us in there as well.. That's why you spend so much money on the left side... protection.,..

That said, clearly the fate of the franchise and the city weighs heavily on this decision. Someone should monitor the situation closely. :D
