This felt like an 0-2 start if we still had Waldron and we are lucky Grubb is creative in finding an avenue where the offense can mask the terrible interior of the line. Sadly I’m not sure it can get a ton better.

Oh, I don't know. Seems like adaptability is our new most important ability. :)

I thought they were stuffing the box quite a bit, Charb couldn't get started and was hit at the line and there was almost no space or gaps. We do need to correct something, Charbs isn't a quick back but more of a guy that needs to get momentum and a head of steam. Definitely not a guy you send sideways to turn things up.

This is a correct assessment of the challenges Chabs faced. Few holes, and the D-linemen were disengaging from the O-line quickly and making tackles on the edge, as well. I hope the bulk of the line have the talent to improve.

We have a bad offensive line. This is pretty obvious now, so I think it's a little unfair to judge Charbonnet on how he does behind an offensive line that doesn't give him much of a chance.

And, let's not forget, New England was a top 5 defense last year and were really good defending the run. That's a tough situation for 2nd string RB.

Nice to have an OC / coaching staff that is able to coach around a struggling o-line and back up running back and still put up some decent offensive numbers and points. Contrast that to the wildcard loss to Dallas where despite getting owned on the line, they kept slamming the ball into the line no yards over and over

Absolutely, the refusal to adapt to reality wasted some pretty decent teams.

I would much rather live with some rookie mistakes then watch Laken Thomlinson get roasted over and over. Gonna get Geno injured.

He's not cutting it, but we have to trust that the depth chart was worked out appropriately during the offseason and preseason stages. Any growth from the OL is going to have to come from continuity. Shuffling rookies in isn't likely to do anything other than hurt the cohesion of the unit.

I'm sure they would've passed more if they had a quarterback other than Russ, to be fair. That season to that point was successful because of their league-leading rushing attack, and that's where Russell's success came from.

Choosing to live or die with the obvious strength of the team is painful as it's happening, but I get the logic of "this is what has worked all year, and we're going to keep trying until it works for us again so we can mix in some deep shots."

Also, they did end up passing it 27 times and rushing only 21. It felt worse when watching at the time, I guess. Probably was without considering the game situation. I didn't expect the split to look like that.

Guard penalties felt like a killer at times. Hard to judge charbonnet. At times there was no lanes for him but I also thought he looked a bit slow at points

Our O Line made the Pats defense look better than it is, and it is pretty darned good. Our back was gang tackled at the LOS as often as not, at most falling forward for about 2 yards. That isn't good enough but the back is not the reason, or the solution, for that problem. Neither is washed up high tenured vets whose past performance looks good on paper but are not what they used to be.

There is a lot of bad offensive line play around the league right now. Go to most message boards, and you'll find a thread complaining about their team's OL. Look at point totals. The majority of games are in the teens and low 20s (a continued trend). We have a lot of good players on the line. I believe we have good coaching there as well. It's going to take time, but I think they'll progress as a unit.
