First of all, this is not an excuse of any kind for us to lose.

However, when that TD was called a safety and then reviewed as the call stands. I said to my wife, even though we're up 12, that is a massive momentum swing for the colts if they put up any points on the next drive.

Wish I was wrong.

And if we would have scored a TD on the next possession it would have been awesome. Crap happens. It wasn't our day.

It was a safety, not a TD. This is just the game of football. Regardless of the outcome, it was points on the board.

You try picking up a ball that's about to roll out the back of the endzone while you're sprinting towards it.

Yea, you people are so dense, the ball was in motion, an object in motion stays in motion.

Might wanna check out the end of Newton's sentence on that one. ;)

(srsly tho, agreed it wasn't an easy play)

So, I was in a loud bar for this. What was the explanation?

Just not enough evidence to overturn the call. I guess they thought he hadn't maintained complete control before his butt hit the back line.

Very very very close play, but probably should have been a TD.

Definitely, the call could've went either way. It was definitely also tough for Johnson as you're taught to jump on the ball, and considering it was in the endzone, I don't blame him for that. He could've had better awareness, but when there's a blocked kick like that, all you concentrate on is getting the ball and it's hard to know who's beside and behind you (especially when wearing a helmet), so again, I don't blame him for jumping on the ball. Just sucks we couldn't get the TD.

He could have played it the same way you down a punt inside the 5. Sliding the way he did was pretty dumb.

Your physics professor was a drunk. Possibly a womanizer and a card cheat, as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I was at the game and every colts fan around me even agreed it was a TD. They were more than happy celebrate the mistake though.

Very close…

I thought it was a safety at game speed, a TD the first time I saw it in slo-mo, and then a safety again the second time I saw it… FWIW

I thought it was a TD in real time, and guess what, IT WAS! Hawks got boned twice on that play, once by the zebra on the field and once by the replay official. If Rog Goodell had any credibility both would be in the unemployment line tomorrow..... But Rog got his "desired results" and that's all that matters to that POS!

It was not clearly a TD nor a safety. Either one is a close call. If he gets up from the field with the ball in his hand then my guess is they call a TD on the field. Sliding like that coming up and the ball just basically falling down indicates to the refs lack of possession.

Well, the ball did move from one hand to the other, along his body, as he slid out of bounds…

That alone is enough to at least “question” if he had control in the field of play…

That said it was a very close call and you’re entitled to your opinion, I just disagree… ;)

I was on Skype with my girlfriend and said. This is bad. This play is going to be a big thing. Something doesn't feel right. I am worried that the refs may find a way to assist a Seattle loss and this is the start. We should have been up 17-0. Then the long bomb and all of our fast start was gone.

Seen this so many times in the last 51 years of watching this game.

Your physics professor was a drunk. Possibly a womanizer and a card cheat, as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Why do you say that? I think his quote was right on. Newton's first law of motion states, "When viewed in an inertial reference frame, an object either is at rest or moves at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by an external force." So why do you insult his physics professor???

The ball was moving quickly toward the back of the end zone, and it would have taking a dive and perfect flip of the ball back the other way to give someone else the chance at the touchdown. And, as many have said, that it would have been impossible to know who was back there at the time.

Good play. Crappy call. Crappy replay review.
