The Coleman situation

Coleman left the game with a pretty bad looking hamstring injury (he could barely walk) and did not return. Hamstring injuries are notorious for not healing quickly. If Coleman ends up being sidelined for 4-6 weeks, what should Seattle do? I think the obvious thing would be to bring back Mike Rob, but if they did, where does the roster spot come from and what happens to Coleman? Usually guys don't get IR'd for hamstring injuries this early in the season.

One suggestion I heard that I think is pretty clever- cut Coleman. If an injury settlement comes into play, then pay it. IMO, it beats using the IR as it gives Seattle a chance to get Coleman back later if needed. Remember too that interest for FBs around the league is extremely low. If Mike Rob can't find a team in FA, then I imagine gimpy Coleman would be more than safe.

Or, you know, they could just play the next few weeks with TE Davis at FB, and it wouldn't even be the dumbest roster decision we've seen the Seahawks make this year. So who knows. It definitely makes for an interesting situation though. Our lack of a real fullback made parts of the Cardinals game more limited and suspenseful than they'd normally be.

FWIW, I thought Coleman actually had his best game by far as a Seahawk before his injury. Figures. So this isn't an anti-Coleman thing. It's about how the team can potentially work around a big problem that was thrown in their laps tonight.

There may be several moves needed. Even though Carp went back in, you have to wait until Tuesday to see if he can go. If he is out, they probably will need to bring in a lineman. Jeron Johnson had a flare-up of his old hamstring injury, which kept him out for 3 games or so. Do they try making it with just 3 safeties or do they have to do something here as well.

I think BJ Daniels, Mayowa and some other good young talent are in trouble as far as remaining on the roster. I could see the team potentially having to replace Coleman, Johnson and Carp. Wish a reporter would research the Robinson health issue because the assumption is that MRob is ready and willing to go. I am not sure he can walk in off the street after being inactive for 2 months and just pick up and go.

Ware has been out for a month with a sprained ankle. He can't be too far from his return. I don't expect anything drastic, and they'll know more about Coleman's situation when they check him out.

OH NO there is a shortage of Full Backs in the nfl! Only Like 6 teams use them and our running game was just fine with out him. This is quite the situation, I don't think we can possibly find a player to replace him! There is a reason the front office has two dirt cheap players filling this roll, it is because its beyond easy to fill.

sure we ran ok but we couldn't pick up a blitz or provide any pass pro help to our struggling line.

Here is what they will do.
TUrbin will become the full back.... and we will see Christine Michael as the second Tailback.

heres why.. tubrin is good a picking up blitz's he is a good conditioned Run the play as its called do not deviate to execution kinda back.
And Michael is wasting away.

I don't want to be a jerk, but people need to move past Robinson. Fan favorite for sure, but he's never coming back.

he seems very explosive

BIG difference between being a speedbump as pass protection (Turbin) and actually being a lead blocker. Turb is NOT fullback material.

As a short-term veteran fill-in, keep the name Jacob Hester tucked away. This regime has shown an interest in Hester in the past, and he's the kind of guy who could step right in get you through a few games until DC and/or Ware are ready again, esp. with the weak schedule the Hawks have coming up.

I assume MRob isn't healthy yet, there's got to be a reason he doesn't at least have a visit. I know he's a FB in a league with low demand, but he was a solid player and special teams guy.

That said, I think the lack of a FB will help this offense by forcing Bevell out of power looks that haven't been too kind to us.

haha WHAT? The only thing they owe us is to try and win a superbowl. If MRob is not the right choice to do that because of his health or any other reason, they should absolutely not bring him back.

What? He's from Virginia, went to Penn State, played 4 years for the Niners and three with us.
