Russell is only getting older. He's about to turn 34 and is obviously losing arm talent - he already lost his mobility.

If he doesn't turn it around quickly, he's going to find himself running out of time and chances.

It seems quite likely that he's single-handedly destroying his legacy and strengthening Carroll's (and JS), as Carroll now looks like the genius that both made Russ and kicked his shit along when he got too useless and expensive.
