Unfortunately I think we would get far less in return for Felix at this point in his career. He's been one of the best Mariners ever, but his career is on a downward trajectory and I think most of the teams in MLB can see it.

We would be able to get a lot for Felix. He is still Felix. And there is a major need for starting pitching. Most of the contenders in the AL have pretty average to poor starting pitching with the exception to Cleveland and Texas.

We don't trade Felix he is ours, the guy has taken less money just to stay a Mariner!I don't know how we cannot love that.I think we will be fine 1-4 SP's Felix,Walker,Kumo and Pax.The #5 spot has been horrible. The health issues have caused big problems as well but I think we will be ok since we have a real gm and a fo that seems to know wth they are doing.I don't see playoffs this year because of injuries, bad luck and a bad year for the bullpen. On another note MZ is back!I hope he has learned a few things on hitting while @Tacoma,I want the guy to be a Joe Mauer.I've been hard on him in here but really I want to eat my words.GO M"S!!!

^^^ I disagree slightly about our rotation. I think a Hernandez-Walker-Paxton trio is exceptional, but Iwakuma is (and has been) a major liability. Like Karnes, he just cannot get past the 4th or 5th inning without trouble and has one of the highest ERAs of all starting pitchers in innings 6 and on.

I would trade Iwakuma in a heartbeat. And, of course, Miley. Suffice it to say we are in the market for a #4 and #5 pitcher unless LeBlanc pans out. His first start in two years was last weekend and shutout a very good Cardinals team over 6 innings if I recall. Hopefully he can be a serviceable rotation piece for us the 2nd half of the season.

But if this team isn't winning by the middle of next year, I think Dipoto will be faced with a tough decision on what to do with this team. This team is built to win now. And if we aren't winning now, then we should probably blow it up before some of our stars lose value with their declining age. Obviously I hope we don't have to trade Felix, but we may not have much of a choice if this team doesn't start playing better in the next year or two.

Yeah I'm really pulling for Zunino too. Hopefully all the time in the minors has paid off. I guess we'll find out sooner than later.

Heh. Enjoyed Cano's sense of humor "attempting" to push the runner off second in the top of the 7th ala how Lee was sort of pushed off the same base in the bottom of the 6th and called out after being called safe. Though Lee lacking nimbleness didn't help matters. But Cano had me laughing, there.

Lets get the sweep today. We get to face one of the biggest gascans today in Ubaldo Jimenez. How he is still a starting pitcher, I have no idea.

I've been fading him all year in sports betting. Easily one of the bottom 5 starting pitchers in baseball. Now watch him throw a complete game shutout (that would have happened to the "old" Mariners).

No worries Lock. Jimenez came through for you.

Man is Seth Smith ever hot right now.

So, 6 games against the Astros, with a 4 gamer in KC sandwiched in between. I'd be all over 6-4 in that stretch

That was an awesome series. If Seattle is going to climb back into the playoff picture they need sweeps and winning streaks to do it.

Our rotation is one of the most talented in baseball, but also one of the most injured. I don't feel great about them right now, but if they get healthy and if Seattle boots Miley for Karns, then it's a solid group.

The offense is going to be a little streaky but when they are hot they are really hot. Right now they are rolling. Hopefully the pitching can be good enough to help turn this hot streak into a winning stretch.

I was slow to hop on the Seth Smith train but I sure as hell am on it. Taking an 0-2 pitch deep with ease? I'd like to see him give Griffey's consecutive game record (8) a run for its money.

Last two times we had vital series against a team from Texas, it knocked us out of 1st place and then some. I hope we keep rolling against Houston this week.

This Mariners team has the kind of offense you want in a playoff run - the ability to put up big numbers every inning. Like Kearly said we just need our starters healthy and find a home for Miley.

I've been hard on Kuma for the past 2 years but he pitched a good game today, I'll admit.

a pathetic performance by the offense. Swinging at every damn pitch they see. Apparently the series against the O's made them think they are super human. No poise at the plate today. Didn't work any of the counts. Bases loaded no out AGAIN and couldn't score. Another 1 run loss. Pathetic. This team doesn't deserve the playoffs. Not there yet. JUST NOT THERE YET

The rotation has potential to be great if they can stay healthy. We still need to find a consistent #5. We just need either Karns, Miley or LeBlanc to perform and take it.

On a good note, no one in the AL really has a great rotation right now. The AL East as a whole needs starting pitching. Outside of Tillman, the O's have nothing. I kind of like Toronto's rotation if they can get Stroman going, but they still don't really have a dominant ace. Estrada and Sanchez are nice, but neither are a #1. And if Price doesn't get his act together for the Red Sox, they are in big trouble. I'd expect all three of those teams to try to add starting pitching at the deadline.

Right now the best rotation has to be Cleveland. Their rotation reminds me of the M's from a couple years ago. A good mix of young and old talented arms. No one wants to see Kluber, Salazar, Carrasco, and Tomlin in a series. And right now, Kluber might be their weakest SP. The kid Bauer has been on fire lately, I don't even know which pitchers and in which order they'd go with in the playoffs. With the Cavs winning it all, I could see the Indians representing the AL in the World Series. Could be a huge year for Cleveland (minus the Browns ).

Since I live near Houston I was able to watch last night and Walker looks like a BP pitcher to me. High and right down the middle, one of those HR's was a monster shot.

The biggest problem with Walker, IMO, is how unbelievably inconsistent he is. So far in his young career, he has had several absolutely dominating performances, several pretty awful performances, and several performances somewhere in between awful and dominating. You just never know what you're going to get.

A month ago he went 8 full innings with 11 strikeouts and only allowed 3 hits and 0 runs against a very, very good Cleveland Indians team. Then you get outings like he had yesterday. :229031_shrug:

It's obvious he has the talent and potential to be a very good, maybe even great pitcher, but at this point, like I said, he is still very inconsistent.

One thing to keep in mind with Walker, he is still only 23 years old.
