I didn't see a thread on this yet, but if there has been one please delete.

Talk about the weakest spot of our defense yesterday. Geez, I'm still fuming on how bad and completely out of place he looked. Maybe someone should tell him that claiming the WR is pushing off on every play doesn't help.

He was absolutely terrible against Carolina when BMax couldn't play. I guarantee you that the Pats knew their night just got easier when Lane got injured and saw who his replacement was.

Maybe that is why Schneider mentioned Maxwell as a priority. Simon literally gets roasted whenever he's out there it seems. He does not appear to have the lateral agility to cover any WR with quickness.

Back in Seattle.
Very true. He was the weakest link of our team yesterday. Humble Thug better start paying attention to his assignments.

The only good thing about him that improved over the course of the season is that he stopped with the stupid penalties....but at the cost of actually playing and covering his assignment. Man I'm so irritated with his play in these playoffs this year.

Bill Polian questioned why we didn't put Sherm on Edelman instead of Simon.

In his opinion though the problem was not so much coverage as it was tackling. LOB did an awful job of tackling yesterday. It was no doubt due to being injured but I also haven't forgotten that many of our injuries are from "friendly fire".

Not to mention, he does not take accountability for his actions. Nearly every time he gets a pass completed on him, which is a lot, he looks to the ref asking for a PI.

To me, that's not a guy who will do whatever he can to get better.

This is why it's been hard for me to wrap my head around Burley being inactive for this game, especially against the likes of Edelman/Amendola, both shifty guys that only Lane on our team is really built to cover. BMax covers those types okay but I don't think he looked DRASTICALLY better than Simon against them, he gave up numerous open passes too. Simon is like a less physical Browner for us right now, getting roasted by quick and shifty guys. I understand no one could have predicted that Lane would break his arm in the 1st Quarter, but you gotta know your personnel against theirs. Burley filled in admirably when we absolutely needed him earlier this year, its puzzling to me that under a season of tutelage in the Legion of Boom they didnt deem him worth activating in any playoff game, especially this one though.

Obviously making Burley inactive blew up in their face the moment that Lane went down. But Simon is the weak link big time assuming that Maxwell is gone.

Simon is like a less-nimble Browner minus the physicality and the accountability so far. If we do somehow keep Maxwell I would say Simon just single-handedly handed Byron a giant raise.

Also I thought his nickname was *humble* thug. That is staggeringly laughable with the constant whining, preening, gesturing out-of-bounds when the receiver clearly catches a ball in-bounds, etc.

Watching him beg for an OPI on every play he gets smoked is the most irritating thing on our team.

Simon, you are the weakest link, goodbye

How were you able to watch the 2015 Super Bowl in 2001?

Seanhawk that was funny. Well played :)

I felt bad for Simon but he was terrible the whole playoffs. Don't look at his stats for the playoffs overall. Depressing.

Yep.

Many of you jumped all over my ass months ago when I said Simon was nowhere near ready to be the full time DB opposite Sherm, and he proved my point last night to exhaustion getting abused over and over.

We're in big trouble next year if Maxwell leaves, and he probably will. No way we'll be able to match the monster contract offers he's going to get from other teams.

It was so obvious the 2nd time Edelman was at the goal line that he would run that same play where he'd make a cutback towards the sideline. Simon had no chance on it the first time when Brady threw the ball errantly so you knew he'd try it again and of course no adjustment from Simon. I kept thinking "jump that route!!" as I saw it coming. Could have been a pick 6.
