I decided to start this thread since The Breno or Bowie thread morphed into Sweezy and The Dirty Truth seems to think Sweezy is the shizznizzle.

What do you think?

Me?...He killed two very important gains that were first downs on Monday and has made a grip of stupid, boneheaded penalties ala Breno LAST year. His pass blocking is a gigantic blah. Will he improve?....who knows, but we have to roll with him, we are stuck at this point.

Thoughts?

He will only get better by playing. Clearly he has the tools to be great.

People tend to overreact on this board. He will be fine.

Ya, I have seen some trash talk about sweezy due to the penalties... Same stuff I got mad at Breno about last year. Hopefully he takes this experience and makes something of it.

He is good and arguably better than Unger at getting to the second level and cut blocks, seems a lot more comfortable attacking which makes sense coming over from defense. His problems thinking (who do I pickup in blitzes/help in pass protection) and reacting (used to attacking from defense).

I'd say he is adequate in pass protection, above average in run blocking.

I am going to break down o-line play this game since I have rewind and all 22. Usually I just watch the game,

but this week I am going to focus on these (can't say the exact word here.) Rhymes with truckers.

Scott floated the idea of Sweezy moving to FB or H-back. That's a bit of a luxury given our current OL situation, but if Seattle does enough to shore up the OL this offseason, it could be worth considering. Sweezy is a monster run blocker on the move.

Hang the Right Guard. All the criticism heaped on the resident right guard has been an annual tradition.

Who can forget how starting right guard Chris Gray was hammered mercilessly by very vocal critics for over a decade. I suspect this constant criticism of the right guard is a product of a limited (fan) understanding of the position ...... rather than actual Seahawk personel.

He has so much potential. He still has a lot to learn but I think he has all the tools to be a dominant guard at some point. He is just a baby though, especially considering the position switch.

Obviously the coaches see something, but he seems to be a huge liability with penalties and pass blocking.

He does have some potential. However his growth seems to stopped in pass blocking. He is making the same mistakes he did a year ago. I would shop for an guard be it FE or the draft. At worst we need the depth.

Great goodness! You could make this statement about all of our O-line. We were having protection issues BEFORE Okung and Breno went down. My opinion only but, I think Cable needs a fire built under his butt!

I like him, but I don't know if he has enough sand in his pants to go up against the really big guys. He seems to settle in a bit after the first quarter.

problem is blocking down feild for pass protection gets a penalty. Sometimes he misses the block and just runs uphill.

Tells me there is more talent available than this! Ok?
