I see Williams' role similar to what Braylon Edwards' role was last season. Braylon had opportunities to put up ~4-5 TDs if he could catch or the ref didn't miss a catch in the endzone (Cardinals, 9ers, Bears and Patriots). Of course, Braylon couldn't so he only had the 1 TD that I remember. Still, that should give you an idea of what Williams might be able to do given similar opportunities given to the role.

Lockette had the one TD in his 2 catches here, so that role is going to get looks for the deep shot. I wouldn't grab Williams as a option unless I was trying a hail mary with little chance of success winning the FFL match.

This, they will find a way to use Williams on the regular.

Fans need to stop worrying so much about the salary cap and all the ramifications of it, because it has a tendency to force people into silly conjecture (here's looking at you, Hawkblogger).

Let front office worry about the accounting - that's what they get paid for. It's pointless to stress about.

We're not cutting Rice this year. His salary already fits into the team's plans.

It also gives us a chance to see if Williams can actually produce in the regular season. So far, he hasn't proven a whole lot against starting NFL secondaries. I don't see us cutting Rice for someone unless they KNOW they can match that production.

Rice is also a lot better and has more impact than a lot of people here think he does. He's also proven he can be durable. I expect us to try to restructure him next year, but if he looks like he did last year, we won't want to get rid of him at all.

That's great, and I hope he does put up 5+ TDs, but I still think it's ridiculous to say he will be the #1 receiver. The author of the article says he will be the #1 receiver like's it's an obvious fact. In reality, it's a big reach.

Yeah, not sure what the author was smoking when he came up with that idea. Williams is a #4/5 WR on this team as it is comprised. (If he makes the team as many believe).

That just seems like a stupid statement.

Why don't we just stop commenting on who should make the team? That's why they have JS and PC - that's what they get paid for. It's pointless to stress about.

Why don't we just stop commenting on players' performances? Let the players and coaches worry about how they play - that's what they get paid for. It's pointless to stress about.

Why not put double the bacon on a bacon double cheeseburger and make it a double bacon double cheeseburger? Let the chef decide - that's what they get paid for. It's pointless to stress about.

You could say this for just about anything. This is a forum where people talk about everything Seahawks related.

I think he will make the roster. Number 1, I don't think so. I see him as a deep threat until we get Harvin back. He maybe cut after that. The competition for a roster spot is brutal

My point sailed right over your head. But, by all means, stress yourself into thumb sucking.

Yeah.....I doubt it right now. Still has a long way to go to be better than Tate and Rice.

I'm actually quite interested in this "point" you were trying to make? Could you please enlighten me?

No, since it will continue to hijack this thread about Stephen Williams.

:)

I will write you a strongly worded letter instead...just post your mailing address.

Ripping on writers isn't my thing, but Williams our #1 WR, from the front page of NFL.com? Yee-ikes.

I respectfully disagree with FlyingGreg's point. We'll get bad analysis related to almost any topic on the team, including salary cap analysis. But we'll also get good analysis, and certainly the salary cap is relevant to us as fans, as we care about who our team will be able to retain or sign going forward. It's just as relevant for discussion as anything else about our team.

I think best case scenario Williams matches Tate and Rice's TD numbers last year.

Think about going trips on the opposition's 45 yards line, and sending Rice, Tate and Williams on go routes...? That's 3 jump-ball, acrobatic WR's running straight at ya. Do that once or twice the first month of the season. That's a problem...for DC's...IMO.

A great problem for us to own instead of worrying about.
