I like his potential, but reminds me how much i hate the business side of the 53 man roster sometimes (MROb), but i do respect its reality. I know we carried 5 backs and 6 WRers to start last season. Depending on the injuries of Clem, Scruggs and Thurmond we might have a little flexibility in the roster until week 6 with a chance to test some guys in real games.

The signing doesn't really mean anything at this point. They've already signed the entire draft class besides Michael, Simon and Bowie.

Funny, Michael was the one that wanted to be a Seahawk so bad.

Simon goes by Humble Thug.

Both guys seem to want to be maximizing their money.

I like Simon and think he will become necessary, but like Michael, he's not all that relevant in Seattle's immediate plans. IF their agents have been instructed to play hardball with JS, they are in for a rude awakening...thinks me.

Niether man has leverage. Like none.

Michael has already missed numerous games and both players carry the tag of "off-field issues" (whether deserved or not). What will their options be if they ultimately decide to hold out? Miss a year? Their careers will be over before they get started. JS knows this and I sincerely doubt we need be concerned about them not yet signing.

I would think that both would be happy to make what Russell Wilson made last year.

With the new NFLPA rules, they can't maximize anything. There is a solid rookie scale, so there isn't much they can do.

I doubt that's the issue, rookie contracts under the new cba are all slotted. Theirs really nothing to negotiate. Besides its not like their holding out they fully participated in the rookie camp

You're right, and i know it doesn't mean anything yet. I guess i was speaking in more of a broad sense, and a lower round RB being a synbal of that. Eventually someone we like is going to be replaced. I have a hard time making a mock 53 that totally satisfies me.

I don't think we'll replace a veteran, well-respected FB like MRob with first-year 6th-round pick.

And this is why I hate .NET sometimes.

So if you're humble or excited to be part of the team, you can't ask your agent to get you the best deal they can? You know, since this is now your job and all?

The contract could be tied to off field or health issues also. Might just be making sure it is very clear or his agent (Michael's) might also be trying to get clauses removed or reduced. We have no idea why Michael hasn't signed yet bit I'm confident it will get done on time.

I sure don't miss the whole rookie contract signing angst that we went through every year under the old CBA... especially for the 1st rounders.

The only thing that I dislike about the new CBA is the major cut down in the number of practices.

It seems to me that the undrafted FAs are at a distinct disadvantage because they don't have an ample opportunity to show what they are capable of.

Oh well, if life has taught me one thing... it's the fact that times change and there's little/nothing that I can do about it except accept it.

I don't understand why they don't just make it a 55 man roster, than you've got more flexibility and can keep more development players. I also agree with Herm Edwards, why can't you dress the entire 53? Afterall they are getting paid regardless, why not allow the entire squad to dress, it would allow you to get experience for all players and would cover you in the event of major injuries. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Well that wouldn't be very humble of them, they should just sign whatever the hell they're offered :sarcasm_off:
