We can disagree on Darnold. He's one hell of a player. And you could also argue that 2 of those turnovers were not on him.
They just got done winning by 24 and 22. Not sure what else you guys want. Other than 50-0 wins with 4 quarters of perfection.
EXACTLY what I said would happen has happened. Hawks win in a blowout; they give up some short fields and the game SEEMS to be closer than it was. Followed by people losing their minds (to a point)
Win by 1, win by 22, all counts the same. Perfection is not realistic on the football field. I just have a hard time understanding not being stoked about a 7-2 team who has controlled MOST of the games they have won. This team is going to lose some more games. And I suspect the jump off the bridge crowd will be right here for it. I'm here for it, win or lose. Everyone deals with it their own way. At least we're talking about a 7-2 team and not a team sitting at 5-4 or 4-5.
I guess if you look at football as purely wins and losses week to week, everything is wonderful. Ask the Vikings fans and they will tell you that's exactly how they felt last year. Until they didnt.
This is as simple as understanding you can be thrilled your team is 7-2, analyze how and why they are 7-2 AND still be concerned that we have been fortunate to have high turnover games against poor teams and get away with it.. AND see an alarming trend where we have one of the better o-lines in the league in pass pro but have a QB who gives the ball away at a rate better than once a game and often in the most unfortunate situations.
I dont see anyone losing their minds. I do see people pointing to the very obvious trend now of letting teams stick around because we do dumb stuff. If you are asking me what i want? It would be great if Sam could win the MVP. Thats not the bar by any means but its possible given the start he has had. But he wont if he keeps on finding himself in these 'not his fault' situations over and over again. At a certain point logic dictates that there's something else that is in his control that he could be doing. To put it on the o line when they are playing as well as they are and say 'they just need to do better' seems misguided. I would also like to see us win some playoff games this year. 7-2 is great. Winning by 20 is great. But the entire season is preparation for the post season. At the end of the day, how much we beat the cardinals by wont matter if we lose to the 'insert team' in the wildcard round. But winning in the post season is also there for the taking given how we have played, but that also isnt going to happen if we cant clean up some very obvious errors.
Winning, being pleased about it AND critical to see how one can improve is a model for success. Winning and simply being happy to have won is exactly how you stop winning.
