Agree. I still have 0 expectations. The players have to learn the coaches and scheme. The coaches have to learn the players, and themselves. We will have to bring in Mikes players. It’s gonna be ugly at times. Give it time.

The moves Pete made in 2022 and 2023 were bad because they were emblematic of two things that had been knocks on Pete for years. One, that NFL defenses had passed Pete by and that he was too loyal to people.

In 2022, that almost looked like an overcorrection. We dumped Russ (which I thought was the right move at the time and was 100% correct in hindsight), but we also dumped Norton, dumped Bobby, and then completely changed our defensive identity even though our defense was actually fine in 2021. While on one hand, this can read like a guy who's willing to make changes but on the other it looks like a dude flailing to stay relevant.

So, our offense in 2022 is surprisingly good, Geno balls out, but everything else was a mistake. We go from a pretty good bend-but-don't-break defense to just a flat-out bad defense. So, now Pete brings back Bobby but makes the mistake of making him the green dot which means he can't come off the field even though Bobby being slower means there are a lot of plays where we really, really needed to take him off the field and he also tries to claw back some of the defensive changes they made the previous year but for some reason keeps Clint Hurtt as the DC.

Now our defense is even worse, Pete no longer seems to have a guiding philosophy, and after trying to get a rep for being able to make the tough choices in 2022 he goes right back to being overly loyal to guys in ways that hurt the team.


I don't know what's going to happen with Macdonald and I was one who would have been fine with keeping Pete for one more year, but if you are looking at the team from the 30,000 feet view (as ownership is wont to do) you can see where dumping Pete might have been less 'we think the team will do better next year with a new coach' and more 'Pete might not have the vision for this anymore'.

That’s an awfully definitive position to take when you’re just watching on television from home on game day with no visibility otherwise. John didn’t step on Geno. John didn’t snap the ball over Genos head. John does have a part to play in terms of the personnel but the fact that you have a group of guys with all new coaches across the board, it’s pretty naive to just throw everything at John’s feet and say he’s the problem without a clear root cause defined for exactly why.

To me, people here immediately look to fire someone when the team loses and since John has more tenure, he’s seen as the next one for their misled chopping block. That’s not how you build a winning organization. At all.

Yeah ....I question the decision to get rid of Pete Carroll... I thought he should have had another year... that doesn't make me narcissistic that makes me a FAN who is NOT happy about that decision... I think we are going to be looking at decades of losing football because of that choice and I don't give a crap what you think about it because my opinion is every bit as relevant as yours!

sounds like a standard response for continually losing seasons. Since 2014 people have been saying be patient we are rebuilding or retooling. Sooner or later fans will stop showing up and it is starting to show as season ticket holders are selling tickets instead of going to games and cheering. Why go to the stadium when the product looks like this And still pay thousands, I don’t blame season ticket holders who sell. Season holders can go to a couple games but It appears many just sell becuase the team sucks and have since 2014

WHAT!!! Have you been a fan for a long time or are you a newly bandwagoner. Pete's first year was HORRENDOUS. They literally got blown out every single game. The second year was no better. The third year it started to come together.
