So much for running it back.

Why would that illicit a response from me? I certainly haven't advocated replacing Darnold with either. There are only about a dozen QBs I'd take over Darnold, and neither Tua nor Murray are on that list.

"Why are we even pretending Darnold would be difficult to replace? Tua is going to be cut, and he's better. He'll cost a fraction of what we're paying now. Kyler is going to get cut, and he's better at his best. Flacco would have easily had this team in the Super Bowl, and he just announced he wants to play another season."

I know you were joking, but my jokes were based on your joke. It's like a joke squared.

Yes, but now we've paid that roster bonus, so the trade-off doesnt make sense anymore. Both Tua and Murray ARE better than Darnold at their best, but the former has probably been done in by injury and the latter isnt dependable. It's more nuanced than just saying a player is better so I'd swap them out.

With all these free agents leaving, this will NOT be anything near the team that just won the Super Bowl. Just sayin’.
Dude what? bit player FA's dont win championships, Defense and a killer front office do. Your take is hilariously misplaced. this team will get better in the off season.

Please note that I did NOT say the team would be bad. I said it would not be the same. I’m just disappointed that so many of our (okay, MY) favorite players will be gone.
Don't worry little camper, Bobo will be back. 😉

Yes, he's #1 on my list of QBs I'd like to see the Rams sign to replace Jimmy G as Stafford's backup. I'd say the same about the Cards, but even Russ couldn't make that franchise any less relevant.

I'm not going to quote the above post - giving you time to delete it 🥲

So right, I'm quoting it myself.

What? no. not even close. either of them. Tua is 3rd tier just slightly above back up.

The reality is... of those 'about a dozen', most, if not all, are deeply established franchise QBs with other teams, and they are making $50M or more (APY)... nowhere close to Sam's salary under his current contract.

If your statement is independent of salary, and also independent of availability for the Hawks to sign... your statement has ZERO relevance to the situation the team is in... or a commentary on what you believe the Hawks should have done when trading GeNO and signing Sam.

Perhaps I'm missing your point... if so, pls educate me/us.

What are you even rambling about? I'm not advocating replacing him. You're just reading way the hell too much into it. I don't know what Geno even has to do with this. I was happy moving on and replacing him.

He pulled up a quote from me from over a month ago when I was talking about potential replacements if we didn't pay Darnold's roster bonus. Me saying later there are other QBs I'd take over him doesn't take into account plausibility (obviously, I don't think we're getting Mahomes). I was just saying I wouldn't want those guys I mentioned before any longer now that we've committed the cap space to Darnold.

If we lost K9 and Shaheed, but added Crosby, I'd still be feeling pretty damn good.
K9 has historically been fragile, and was a runner by committee. He look great in the Super Bowl, which leads me to believe that he is one of those players that flashes, to get a big raise. In the Ultimate game, he looked like Shaun Alexander in his prime. Stopping, going and picking his way and turning on the afterburners. He looked all-world. IMO, it was him burning hot, and everything after will be less. There are equals out there, younger and less injury prone. Again, JMO....

100%
There isn't a single starter on defense that I would place Shaheed or Walker above. I would absolutely take any defensive starter over them. We won with an overwhelming defense that matched up well against almost every team, and on offense it wasn't Mr 21 yards per game (Shaheed) doing the damage, it was JSN.

If Shaheed played all 17 games with the Hawks he was on pace for only 355 receiving yards last year, which would rank #120 among receivers. Not even in the top 100 WR. I've been following the Hawks for almost 40 years, and if it weren't for Percy Harvin being a hawk at one point I would put Shaheed as the most overrated WR in franchise history.

Can anyone name a WR who was slobbered over as much as he is despite only averaging 21 receiving yards? I've just never seen it. With all the slobbering going on you would think he was a 1000 yard receiver for us. He wasn't. He was Mr 21 yards
Shaheed looked lost. If he was still finding his way he is slow picking things up, or he is just not that good, just a role player at best.
